The point is that the Chevy Aveo is better quality than a comparable Kia/Hyundai. Back when I had that thing has a company car, I beat the living hell out of it and it still never went into the shop for a warranty problem. Hell, that thing was even good (for a FWD) car in the snow.

What Hyundai look like the WK2?
Just about every SUV on the market, save for the really big GMs and Fords, look the same to me. They all look like a Sante Fe. They are starting to blend into one egg-shaped design.

...and what I'm telling you is that of the available Korean domestic car market, the GM backed Daewoo is considered the lowest quality/least desireable car. In build quality, customer satisfaction and just about any other aspect, they trail far behind Hyundai/Kia. The Aveo/Kalos has won just about every "worst of" a car can be accused of. Also, the Kalos existed in Daewoo long before GM bought them in 2002. It just never made it into production, so GM pretty much just took what was already there and finished it. The Hyundai Group passed on buying Daewoo for a reason.

The Matiz, on the other hand, is a much celebrated car here. It's an absolute work horse. Coming to America as a Chevy Spark.

do they even have car designers there or do they just take pieces of multiple car pics and glue them together to make the plans??

Are you seriously sitting there thinking the US car companies don't do the exact same thing? Give me a break!

Just because you favor a certain make/model of car, does not mean you HAVE to disfavor another. I LOVE Jeeps, Chargers, Mustangs, TBSSs, Camaros, Civics, IS250s, Rams, F150s, Veyrons, Murcialagos, Modenas, 911 C4s, etc. I can certainly appreciate a car compnay making the attempt to lift itself from obscurity and make a name for itself, or do none of you remember the Chrysler era of the K-car? Yeah, sales were great(spurred by nothing but gas mileage woes), but it was by far the weakest, cheapest built, most worthless p.o.s. ever put out with a pentastar badge. It may have financially saved the company, but it severly tarnished the build quality and reliability of the brand. Some would say it is still recovering.

Re: New K7

Actually, I do! I know, I know...

I just like cars, trucks, vehicles of almost any kind. It would be easier and faster to name the very few I don't like. At the very least, with companies like Hyundai and Kia, comparing what they offer now to what they started out as, I find it difficult and a little close-minded to not give them a little credit. I really like a lot of what the 2 divisions are putting out. Maybe it's because I live here. I'm privy to a LOT of stuff not commonly known outside of the country. I also forget you guys only see the few(very few) models they export to the US. I've said many times before, the Korean domestic product is different. Sometimes the difference is small, but often it is a great deal and usually in favor of the host country.

I know the title of this thread in Kia K7, but it's owned by Hyundai. This is a good read. Yes, it's a wikipedia article, but it's backed up with tons of searchable references http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Motor_Company
