Surely you were prepared to receive some "flack" from here. And after taking delivery of the RR why on earth would you want to continue to visit this JEEP forum? Surely a RR Forum would be more beneficial as a RR owner.

Anyhow in my research I did consider the BMW and the RR. The RR does absolutely nothing for me; so I quickly dumped that idea. I'll probably go with the JEEP as the overpriced options that BMW demand just to get it to the level of JEEP's standard equipment are ridiculous.

I believe your post should have been posted on the RR forum. You would've gotten plenty of accolades for your decision over there. Good luck.
I don't see why. I also cross shopped the new RR and RR Sport.
Just could not see the difference between it and an Overland being worth the extra money. Granted there are two good Jeep dealers within 5 miles of the driveway and the nearest Range Rover dealer is 25 miles away.

The SC is definitely faster by any measure. The interior I will grant you is also nicer.
The paint finish also looked much nicer.

When I responded to the Jeep buyer survey that I had cross shopped the RR, someone from Jeep asked me if I was serious. I gave them the RR dealer and sales person's name.

The missus absolutely loved the RR Sport SC. But she also really liked the Overland/V8. And since we were paying cash [hers], we compromised and bought the Overland and headed to Vegas for a second honeymoon. Still think it was the
correct decision.

No I think BMW and Land Rover both use better quality leathers and parts. But the SRT has sold record numbers this year which obviously shows many more people are choosing them over the competition than recent years. I think SRT sold way more than they expected considering they have literally no spare parts for the 2014s even a year after being in production.

I love my SRT and am very happy I chose it. Only complaints I have is that these cars are way nicer than the dealership treats the people who purchased them. They are making way nicer vehicles and have not trained their dealerships and service centers to treat us like we bought a 70k vehicle. That a will all come eventually but it is for sure something that Chrysler and jeep need to work on. Also taking 4 months to get two rear shocks on a 70k vehicle is a complete embarrassment but I finally got them in tonight. I hope getting those installed next week will bring a big smile back to my face like I had every time I got in my SRT before the shocks went out, it's been a long and shitty 4 months lol.
Gotta agree on dealership treatment. Definitely the RR dealers "give good shopping" compared to the Jeep dealers. You do pay for that, but as the Jeeps climb in price and try to move up against the big boys, they do have a learning/training curve for their dealers ahead of them.

Hey, the local RR dealer will give you a free shuttle ride to Nordstroms while getting routine service.

I really, really like the WK2 SRT. But I'm here in SoCal and I need to know my vehicle at least has a chance of getting me home if an earthquake hits & damages roads. So Off-Road ability is HIGH on my list. I also like to go FAST on roads and want something with better street performance then my current 2012 WK2.

Currently the only SUVs offering great performance in BOTH arenas are the Porsche Cayenne and the Range Rover Sport. Both are darn fast on-road while maintaining some off-road ability (especially with Air-Suspensions to get over obstacles). The Porsche is insanely over-priced and not really an option.
Earthquakes that damage roads tend to either just put a few cracks in them [for example, I280 just south of state 92], or they tend to drop bridges, overpasses, and clutter them up with buildings, etc.

To really presume that any SUV would get you home in a california earthquake is to misunderstand the concept of helicopters or foldable ultralight aircraft.

To give up and admit defeat before the fight has even started isn't how I'm built. No one knows how bad an earthquake might be. And it isn't the only event that could cause roads to become impassible. I was taught to hope for the best but plan for the worst.

And since I don't own or have access to a helicopter or foldable ultralight aircraft, I'll have to make do without either.

OK, well maybe if you get a HumVee [not a hummer], or a 6x6 5 ton.....

The worst problem will be how to get over all those Subarus and glorified minivan/CUVs. The 6x6 could do it--if you can't afford a tank.

Forget the HUMVEE. If I'm going that route, its better to GO BIG or GO HOME!

So I'd just get an MRAP!

Traffic Jam?!? Go over, around, or through them!

Just to explain my point of view, to those that are more politically correct than me, that in my opinion it is all about loyalty.

I come from a Military background (36 years - Navy). At the beginning of my former career I "compared" the services at a Recruiting Centre and made my decision there. No way on earth would I, after my making my decision to join Navy, would I dream of going to Army and tell them why Navy is better than Army and why I'm joining the Navy. I wouldn't last 5 seconds. That's just being stupid. What would I expect to gain from doing that?

Therefore my point is, that this guy, and any one of us for that matter, should visit other appropriate websites / forums to compare and comment about these vehicles, and there are a lot out there. They should not comment here why, in their opinion, that a different manufacturer is superior to our pride and joy.

You want to compare other products, do it elsewhere at the myriad of other car forums. You want to comment on Jeeps, do it here.

Maybe my sense of loyalty is clouding my judgement, but I don't care as that's my opinion. Try to respect that and stick your politically correctness up your .

Great Point...

EXCEPT for ONE THING...

THIS is the OTHER RIDES subforum! Its PRIMARY purpose is to discuss OTHER (non-Jeep) VEHICLES.

And if you think that everyone posting here should always say that a JEEP product is superior to all others, simply because this is on a Jeep orientated website; then you've crossed from loyal Jeep lover over to fanboy/fanatic/fool.

I dont even understand the chosen comparisons. The X5 and RR sport are more in the class of a GC Limited or Overland. Similar in offroad abilities and on road performance. I dont think anyone would be taking there SRT offroad. The BMW M5 is comparable to an SRT, I'm not sure about the RR coming in some supercharged sub 4 second 60 time but they probably do.
If you are choosing a RR sport, thats an unreal best of both worlds beastly piece of machinery. If you were thinking about an SRT then you wanted the baddest mother@*%# on road machine out there that you wouldn't take on anything more than a logging road. An X5??? I love first world problems

lol its pretty obvious that someone who joins a JEEP forum is going to be a fan of a JEEP.

what is not normal, is for a character like you to join a jeep forum and spend most his time posting about a range rover. you go from thread to thread speaking of the range rover... even in threads that have nothing to do with it.

so please do not contradict yourself because i believe it is you who has far crossed over to becoming a fanboy/fanatic/fool.
