You are right, I forgot about the G63 and G65 AMG. They are bomb-proof, proven off-roaders with heaps of horsepower... I just doubt their 30-year old, off-road-first design provides the same on-road ride quality and comfort the newer Range Rovers have.

It takes YEARS for reliability improvements, I really doubt the '14s will be any different in that regard.

Ya gotta wonder why it has taken almost a decade to de-uglify the Cayenne, and they still have a ways to go.

Why ANYONE would want to take a $100k+ vehicle and beat the hell out of it on trails is beyond me. BEST choice would be the buy a Jeep SRT and a Wrangler. Problem solved, and a ton of money left over for mods.

For more people than you might expect, that is pocket change.

Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

With the budget of a RR, you could add an aftermarket supercharger to an Overland and have money left over. Personally, I'd take that over either of the other two.

I have a 2012 RR Sport Supercharged and a 14 JGC Overland HEMI.

Both vehicles are great. I can spend hours comparing the two but I enjoy them both....

Really?

The same could be said for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
I think we can all agree that the current generation of JGCs are much better in all regards to the previous generations.

Actually I'd rather have an SRT with the Air Suspension system added!

Re: Ultimate SUV: Range Rover Sport or Porsche Cayenne?

I'd love an SRT that also has Offroad ability but I'm in the minority among WK2 owners on this site.

Maybe one day there might be an SRTrail edition. Or maybe not.
