I'm in the same boat as you.
I have a 2012 GC overland which I love and wanted a Wagoneer for the 7 seats
I ordered a 2014 Durango.
The new Waggy will be a mix of them both, so until its here I drive both its ancestors
Currently I own an 89 Grand Wagoneer, 00 WJ and 12 WK2.
I love my wagoneer, but the commander should have showed Jeep to not mess around with things bigger then the Grand Cherokee. I remember when the XK was first released WK owners were peeved and others were annoyed it wasn't called a grand wagoneer.
My sales manager told me that the new Grand Wagoneer was going to be priced in the $70-80k range. I'm not sure if he was being truthful or if he was just trying to push us to buy the Durango. The Durango looks like a heck of a deal if that pricing is true.
I read an article where Sergio M. CEO stated it would be a $85000.00 vehicle. I think Ferrari designers were designing the interior. It will compete with the $100,000.+ Range Rovers. Waiting all this time it had better be really good or it will be a disaster.
I was kind of hoping for something built off of the Ram 1500 platform. Something like a suburban, but with a comfortable third row. $85k is too steep for me to want to let my kids ride in
