1) Any hint on sort of timing? I could get an SRT now, but am willing to wait for an uber-lux wagy
2) Please no wood, come on not the 70s (sure optional, great), but honestly, deal breaker for me
3) Huge engine package, mucho power needed, as well as towing capacity (SRT engine option would be super-cool)
4) I like the previous ideas on Durango size. I was thinking about that one until I drove the SRT
5) Aluminum frame is another great idea. THis is replacing a H2, which is great from a tank perspective, but 6k pounds is just too much. I'm going to doubt the actuality of this, the Viper is not even an aluminum frame, and if any car in their roster deserves that, its the Viper.
6) Frankly don't care about cost, anything under 100 is probably reasonable if you put enough of the cool stuff in it, we are head-on against Cayenne if we put the right engine in there, and can beat them on lux, maintenance, off road ability, and still be much cheaper. Having said that, if we go low-end (read one step above the non-SRT jeep) then over 70 is too much. My pref is to go against the cayenne market.
7) not into diesels, just me, I know.

Basically a wicked super lux suv that blows the doors off a cayenne S and offroads better than a G55 would be perfect, there isn't much competition for something like that. There IS a market for it, I see Cayenne S' everyday (and they look, sub optimal IMO).

Thanks! Great thread!
I agree with all of these. If they go high-end, which is what I am hearing, I am buying one for sure. Also, welcome to JeepGarage!

Lastly, what are the years and models of all of your vehicles (out of curiosity)?

1. Model year 2017. Normal release timing.
2. No word on *exterior* wood.
3. 6.4L HEMI
4. You've got the size right...
5. Don't know yet.
6. You don't care about price? OK when your window sticker gets printed up, I'll make sure it says $201,990.

Yeah I really don't think THAT is going to happen. This won't be a high production vehicle... well at least I can't see it being one right now.
X2 unlikely. Cost would be too much. However I think they did it for the 30th aniv grand wagoners so it's possible.

Re: New Wagoneer List of Demands

LOL thanks! "Don't care" might have been overstepping, I meant "don't care if competitive", ie 90k or less.

But the my 2017 is very troubling, I don't think my aging h2 will make it that long, my guess is GC SRT, then maybe a shift in 18/19 if the car is awesome as I think it will be.

Re: New Wagoneer List of Demands

New stuff Im hearing is the next gen Grand Cherokee may be pushed back from a JAN. 2016 debut to a normal aug/sept 2016 debut for the 2017 and the WS Grand Wagoneer pushed forward. Just a possibility/maybe. MiKe Manley really wants a full sized SUV on the market ASAP!

Re: New Wagoneer List of Demands

Bought a '14 Cherokee to replace a '97 Chev Pickup (winter truck) and will be looking to replace my '07 AWD Milan around the 2016 time frame... So Grand Wagoneer or Grand Cherokee... Hoping both have diesel option... Any word on Wagoneer having a diesel option?

As eager as I am to see the Wagoneer, I hope they don't push the new GC back too far. As much as I love mine I'm ready for the next best thing. A GC fits my needs but I've always thought they needed a large SUV for the segment.

Re: New Wagoneer List of Demands

I just came across this thread. I'm very interested in the new Wagoneer, or whatever it will be called, so will add my .02 as a current WK2 owner/enthusiast.

I am very impressed with the clean lines, sporty look and monochromatic paint treatment of the 2014 Durango R/T. The racetrack taillights leave me cold, however. Clean and simple is always better, IMO.

Jeep could do worse than just switching this body over to the new Jeep platform! The new Jeep needs to at least have one higher end model that duplicates these Durango R/T features, and that eliminates all exterior chrome, including the window surrounds.

Body style should be as modern, clean, sleek and sporty looking as you can make it. No retro styling or exterior wood. That would be a deal breaker for me.

Current Durango length is perfect. I have no interest in anything larger.

Rear captain's chairs are nice, but the split bench second seat needs to be at least an option in all models. There are times when a full flat floor is essential to me for occasionally carrying building supplies and other cargo. Even the folding front seat would be nice, and wasn't available on my particular 2012 JGC Overland.

As others have mentioned, electrically controlled headrests would be nice for increased rear visibility when not carrying passengers.

I'm anxious to see (fairly soon, hopefully) some photos or accurate drawings of how this new Jeep will look. If it doesn't excite me, I want to be able to purchase a 2015 Durango R/T before it becomes history!

Re: New Wagoneer List of Demands

So now it looks like it will be a 2018 my for the Grand Wagoneer, with prices from $65K on up to compete with the European luxury brands.

The Dodge Durango R/T is looking better all the time! Saw some high resolution photos (Motor Trend, I think) of a 2014 Redline Pearl R/T recently. Wow! Now that is one good looking vehicle. Even the racetrack taillights, which put me off at first, blend in well with this color. I think I see a 2015 R/T in my future, while waiting to see what the 2018 Grand Wagoneer will bring.

Re: New Wagoneer List of Demands

Are they going to be more competitive with the powertrains on the GW? A 6.4L will get even worse fuel economy than the current 5.7L Hemi (which is underpowered relative to the fuel economy). Jeep needs some higher tech engines to remain competitive especially if they are going to be selling at the higher price points.

The Hemi is rumored to be getting quite a significant update soon, so I'd imagine yes.

They can't leave this engine alone nor can they abandon it. There are too many Americans (Read: 98.2%) that are adverse to their big rumbly V8.
