Re: Recon ZJ :: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Awesome ZJ! How do you like the rear KOR bumper? I have a rusted out Tomken that needs replacing and have been looking at the KOR. Does it still provide adequate vision out of the rear window with a tire mounted up?

Re: Recon ZJ :: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Hey, Dome,

Didn't get a notification that you'd replied here, so I'm sorry for the delay. The KOR rear bumper with the spare hanging on the driver's side does exactly what it's supposed to do - leave your vision in the blind spot on the right rear corner. With the Walker Evans wheel mounted, I can see between the openings enough to view a vehicle behind me at a stop light, and you have the driver's side outside mirror also. I don't think I'd want the spare mounted on the right rear, as the right side is where your blind spot is.

I've had a little problem with getting the carrier latch adjusted correctly, but Kevin gave me a tutorial one morning in Moab at GSW last month. All in all, I'd say it's the best rear bumper/tire carrier offered right now from the aftermarket vendors. Let me know if you have any other questions. I believe I have some pics of the install; PM me your email addy and I'll try to find them if you're interested. A friend helped me with the install - you don't want to try to man-handle it by yourself.
