Durable talks about how long they last and I am sorry but that is something no one can talk about yet.

Now, yes I am being picky and technical. It is pay back for your CVT lecture.

I have no reason to think the Cherokee won't be durable. I also have no reason to think it will be though either. Just no way to know. Way too early to know if Chrysler hit a home run or struck out.
Granted,

You are correct, I have no foolproof evidence of durability. I am basing that comment on past experience with CDJ Platforms launched since the Fiat take over in comparision to other platforms (mainly North American).

btw, I only posted the CVT comment because of the "know stuff too" comment nothing intended by it other than someone opening themselves up to a joke in a conversation.

Anyway, depending on your location the first front wheel drives will be landing soon and you can check it out. If you are familiar with Equinox/Terrain, especially on highway driving I encourage you to test drive and compare.

I personally would like your take on them, as I am only guessing you are familiar with the latter.

I owned a previous gen Equinox but have only driven the new one briefly. It was worlds better than my 08 though. Mostly I have been a Dodge truck guy with the 1 Equinox and 2 Silverado's thrown in when I had a brief foray with GM( same family that owned the Chrysler dealer ). My Patriot is my 1st Jeep.

If I hadn't got sick and had to stop working I would still be driving a HEMI Ram for sure. Now that things have changed I have to watch the pennies. MPG as well as payments matter. But, I also need some abilities out of my vehicle. The Patriot has done what I need for a reasonable cost. The new Cherokee, if I can get one for a price I will be willing to pay, looks like a good option for me. Better MPG( it appears anyway ), more power, more features, etc... It is all going to come down to that payment though.

I am not putting the new Equinox/Terrain up as some kind of super vehicle either btw. I just want to wait to see the new Cherokee before getting carried away talking about it. You have an advantage over most of us though in that you have driven one. Knowing that now I take what you say more to heart. Durability though can only be shown with time.

When one shows up at my local dealer I will check it out and let you know.

Big improvement in the Eqinox from the 08... I have had both.

Looking forward to your review

Actually I want to see everyone post their test drives!!

re: 2014 Jeep Cherokee KL - Features, Options & Pricing

Just priced out a 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk via Jeep.com.. Came out to $38,950..

Didn't a fully loaded, skyslider equipped 2012 Liberty Limited JET top out at about 32k?

I know the Trailhawk is special (pretty much a completely different vehicle than the sport, latitude, and limited,) but I was not expecting it to reach that price range.

I've come to expect new fully optioned JKU Rubicon models and GC limiteds to be around that price but I'm kind of in shock.

I know the KL starts at like $22k, but the Trailhawk is the only trim that appeals to me, both in looks and options. I'm really hoping that price drops down a little bit.

Milous, I appreciate everything you post. Your information is very helpful. When you did the features and pricing on the Grand Cherokee thread, you included the invoice. Any chance you can do that for this thread?

I too am curious about the "invoice pricing". When I ordered mine the invoice pricing is only about two thousand less then full sticker. Is that normal? Furthermore is the invoice price the best deal I can expect to get?

Use the search function at the top of the page to check out "affiliate pricing questions".

Invoice is a fair deal considering you ordered. They really won't pay any flooring interest since you'll pick it up the day it arrives. I would check with your company to see if you qualify for affiliate pricing. FFP would be the price you'd pay and is on your order invoice.

Are there official EPA mileage numbers yet? There are rumors circulating that the EPA numbers are less than Jeep has been claiming (up to 31 MPG).

re: 2014 Jeep Cherokee KL - Features, Options & Pricing

Has anyone seen or know of any torque and HP curves for the new 3.2 liter? With tall 9th gear the engine is not going to be turning very fast and I'm curious what sort of power it will have at 75 MPH.

I am curious as well. All you see is 23/31 FWD and 22/29 4WD which I believe are the Jeep estimated 2.4L Ratings.
