I'm curious to see what this will look like. I view Rav4s and CRVs as cars that girls drive and I hope I don't look at this and think the same. Hoping it will be more in line with the old Cherokee look and more Liberty-looking than Patriot.

Quite a bold move from the previous design. I must say I was surprised at first and not too much of a fan at first glance... but this is growing on me fast, and I start to really like it.

It's quite ballsy from Jeep to come up with such a change, and not to play it safe with another square-ish design that plays the "rugged look" angle against the competition.

Re: 2014 Jeep Cherokee KL - Features & Changes

It's going to be a hit and I can't wait to see what the interior package will look like. I just hope they don't stuff the spare in the trunk like the last Cherokee

It's also promising that Milous has differentiated drivetrains between FWD, FWD/AWD and 4WD.. mainly noting a difference between and AWD system and a 4WD system. Keeps it a Jeep still.

The interior on the top of the line trim level was beautiful. By far the best in that size/price class. It actually could compete with much higher priced import SUV interiors. Jeep definitely brought their A game on this one.

Too bad the styling team didn't bring their A game...

The fact dealers/media had to voice concern and minor tweaks were made between the pilot builds and the blue Limited in the official photos says a lot...

"So Chrysler lifted its own embargo. Free at last. Somewhat, anyway. I first saw the Cherokee on Dec.12 at the media preview, when we see all the vehicles for Detroit, Chicago, and the New York auto shows. When the cover came off, I actually winced, I had such a visceral reaction. The original vehicles I saw had identical front clips to the ones in the photos on Jalopnik. After the 120-minute program wound down, I went back over and stared at the front of the Cherokee from about 12 feet away for every bit of 10 minutes, trying to figure out for sure what was wrong. I critiqued every piece in my head over and over. After a while, I came to the conclusion that I was okay with the break-over grill, though it didn't really do anything for me. But the light stack, that was a different matter. When you look at any vehicle, it's instinctive human nature to anthropomorphize the front clip -- to "see" a face on the vehicle in your mind. But the light stack of the Cherokee -- with what were then tiny projector headlamps, even smaller foglamps, and big, bulbous running lights above the hood line -- looked to me to be the face of an old man, squinting to read very small type. It was definitely not the look of a vehicle that's supposed to stand for ruggedness. Instead it looked weak and vulnerable. As I have said, I've shared this reaction many times in the intervening two months, including about 20 times that day and evening. They were clearly getting tired of me bringing it up. And up. And up. And the "official" photos shown tonight indicate that the lights were changed -- somewhat. The tiny projector has been replaced with a larger, more rectangular headlamp assembly. That helps, but it's not a cure. This vehicle, more than any other, is very personal to me. As many of you know, I live not to far from Toledo Assembly. I have very close friends that work there. The entire region where I live is perhaps over-dependent on that plant and on Chrysler to be successful. When I first got out of college and became a reporter, the first vehicle I purchased was a 1990 XJ. Over the years, I owned five more. I would like nothing better than to eat a large and very public plate of steamed crow if this thing sells like hotcakes in its current form. But judging from the reactions today -- both on Allpar and elsewhere -- I'm far more aftraid that I was right.
