Re: 2015 Cherokee Limited at 1000 Miles

Here is a clarification:
1. I use the remote start to start the vehicle.
2. I drive the vehicle and come to a ligh and come to a full start.
3. The engine shuts off.
4. When the light turns green, i take my foot off of the brake.
5. The engine does not restart as it should. I have to shift to Park to restart the engine.
6. When I manually restart the engine, the warning light comes on.

None of this happens if I initially start the engine on initial start.

The instructions in themanual quoted are hardly optimal when sitting at a light and the engine fails to restart.

I was referring to following instructions for the transition from Remote Start Mode to Exiting Remote Start Mode And Drive The Vehicle, not after driving away and making a stop.

- Remote start either from the APP or by the fob.
- Use fob to unlock car.
- Before the 15 minute Remote Start Mode elapses, push the Start/Stop button or insert the key and turn on the ignition.
- Drive away.

If Stop/Start doesn't work after that, then it sounds like an issue for the dealer to have fixed. It's the first time I've heard of Stop/Start working normally but not after coming out of the Remote Start Mode.

It's interesting. Keep us posted. Thanks.

Exclamation Re: 2015 Cherokee Limited at 1000 Miles

I'm picking up my 2015 Limited, fully loaded Cherokee today. I plan to take it for a test drive and if it produces any of the 'quirks' that I've read on this forum, I'm NOT going to accept it!

I know that there must be thousands of Cherokees out there with no issues. But after reading all these posts regarding transmission issues, you can't blame me for being gun-shy now.

Also, as for the ESS, I also think it's ridiculous! I plan on hitting the OFF button every time I start the Cherokee before I put her into gear! That feature alone almost made me not consider getting this model. But everything else about this car looks great!

I am curious why you are so opposed to ESS without at least trying it. It actually works very well. I use it, but my wife tried it a few times and it just bugged her when it shut off so she doesn't use it. But she at least tried it.

Picked up the Cherokee and during the test drive, I did experience the ESS. Although I will admit that it was almost un-noticeable, I still don't like knowing that the engine is shutting down and re-starting every time I stop. In my mind's eye, that can't be good for the engine and starter in the long run. I've already trained myself to press the Off button after I start the car and before I put her into gear.

Now with all that being said,,,, what a Fantastic Vehicle!!!!!

I'll just burn that extra drop of gas.
On average, I think most cars burn about a gallon of gas an hour. With my city driving, it's not uncommon for me to sit at a stoplight 4-6 minutes. and there's about 15 stoplights on the 6 mile path to work, and somehow I seem to hit almost every one of them! If you multiply that time over a year, and multiply by how many cars on the road in the world, you can see it would easily start adding up to a lot of gas saved if everyone did this.... If it was my car, I'd use the feature provided there were no issues. Of course, I too wonder about the starts and wear/tear....

That said, the it's the wife's main car, and the first thing she does after starting is hit the button to turn it off. She hates it.

Yeah, I remember when a lot people moaned and complained about Electric Windows when they started to become popular in vehicles

Re: 2015 Cherokee Limited at 1000 Miles

I just purchased a {non-Jeep} that has ESS. It's disconcerting at first. Frankly, it does NOT interfere with my normal driving style - amazing how fast and smoothly it restarts. After a few thousand miles, I'll either get accustomed to it or accept that I may be a Luddite and turn it off each time. {It's called ECO Mode in my vehicle - causing a guilt trip when it's OFF'd.}

Re: 2015 Cherokee Limited at 1000 Miles

My 2015 Cherokee Limited now has over 15,000 miles and it runs today just as well as it did the day I picked it up. I've had all the recalls performed. This Limited is a joy to drive and I've had no issues.
