2015 Cherokee recall

Just heard this on the local news

DETROIT (AP) ó Fiat Chrysler is recalling nearly 94,000 SUVs because the air conditioning lines are too close to the exhaust manifold and could catch fire.
The company looked into the problem after U.S. regulators got two complaints about smoke and fire in certain 2015 Jeep Cherokees.
Fiat Chrysler says it doesnít know of any related injuries or crashes. Most of the SUVs are in North America.
Dealers will replace the lines if needed. Customers who lose air conditioning or see a dashboard warning light should contact dealers.

The article was poorly written. It is 2015 Grand Cherokees being recalled and not the regular Cherokees. See the allpar web site for further information.

Odd because the PR indicates Cherokees.

Statement: Air-conditioning System

October 27, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is voluntarily recalling an estimated 75,364 U.S.-market SUVs to inspect and replace, as required, their air-conditioning lines, as required.

FCA US launched an investigation after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration received two customer complaints involving smoke and fire. The Company discovered air-conditioning lines on some vehicles may have been installed in close proximity to their engines' exhaust manifolds; under certain operating conditions, this may pose a fire risk.

FCA US is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.

The recall is limited to certain 2015 Jeep Cherokees. Additional vehicles are affected in other markets. They include an estimated 7,571 in Canada; 4,018 in Mexico; and 6,942 outside the outside the NAFTA region.

Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service, which FCA US will provide free of charge.
.
Customers who observe air-conditioning loss or any other concern, such as a dashboard warning light, should contact their dealers. Customers with additional questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Here is how it actually reads copied straight from allpar:

In a separate recall, after the NHTSA had two complaints of smoke and fire in 2015 Jeep Cherokees, Jeep has chosen to recall around 95,000 of the SUVs to inspect and, if needed, replace their air conditioning lines.

On some Grand Cherokees, the lines may have been installed incorrectly, so they are too close to the exhaust manifold. There are no known injuries or accidents. Again, customers will be notified when they may schedule service, but are asked that if they lose air conditioning or see a warning light, to contact their dealers immediately. The hotline is at 1-800-853-1403.

*******Notice Cherokee is changed in the second paragraph to specifically say Grand Cherokee. The first recall it makes reference to is on the Ram truck.

Re: 2015 Cherokee recall

This is very interesting. I just had my engine light come on in my 2015 overland (3700 miles). They told me it was one of the evaporator lines that was leaking and it was replaced.

I'm curious if it had anything to do with this recall.
