In a separate recall, after the NHTSA had two complaints of smoke and fire in 2015 Jeep Cherokees, Jeep has chosen to recall around 95,000 of the SUVs to inspect and, if needed, replace their air conditioning lines.
On some Grand Cherokees, the lines may have been installed incorrectly, so they are too close to the exhaust manifold. There are no known injuries or accidents. Again, customers will be notified when they may schedule service, but are asked that if they lose air conditioning or see a warning light, to contact their dealers immediately. The hotline is at 1-800-853-1403.
*******Notice Cherokee is changed in the second paragraph to specifically say Grand Cherokee. The first recall it makes reference to is on the Ram truck.
