2015 Start Stop

Will it be possible to permanently deactive the start stop feature on the V6 2015 Cherokee?
Note: I understand there will be a button to push after you have started the car to deactivate the feature but that it resets at every new start (and that is something that I do not want to do each time).

I don't know the answer to your question but I am sure glad I bought my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2L last November. I sure don't want to be dealing with that stop and go stuff. I value performance over a minor gas mileage improvement, if any. I think this stop and go stuff will be one more piece of technology to go wrong and cause problems. I finally have my 9 speed transmission operating the way I want it. Just imagine coupling the two problems together.

Re: 2015 Start Stop

I will answer this question by telling you to go to the wk2 section and looking at the threads of people complaining about having to turn off eco mode every key cycle. It has to come on automatically every key cycle to get the benefit on the window sticker for fuel mileage.

Re: 2015 Start Stop

I hope it works better than my daughter's new BMW X3. The X3 has a very noticeable shudder when it starts back up. It is a four cylinder which may be part of the problem. I would use it if works well.

Re: 2015 Start Stop

I just ordered my new Trailhawk and was pleased to learn that it will include this feature. I have it on my MB E350 and it really does save fuel. I get on average 8.4ltr/100kms (28mpg/US Gal) which is great for a 3.5ltr V6. The only time I turn it off is when I'm in slow rolling stop and go (creeping) traffic and it's no biggie to simply press a button. With it engaged the engine starts before I can get my foot off the brake pedal. I would say I use it 98% or the time. I'm not sure how it works on the Jeep but on the MB it isn't active until the engine warms up.
It's incumbent for manufacturers to lower their fleet MPG level, that is basically why Mercedes sells the Smart car. They don't sell a lot but it helps lower the fleet MPG rating.
As far as one more piece of technology to go wrong, well really vehicles nowadays are loaded with technology, with that attitude we should stop buying vehicles altogether. Having said that I only keep vehicles for 3-4 years so they're usually fully covered by warranty.

Re: 2015 Start Stop

The Start Stop feature is a late availability feature on the 2015 Trailhawk. Depending when your Trailhawk is built, you may not have that feature. Might want to check with your dealer to find out when it will be available.

Re: 2015 Start Stop

Ordered my Trailhawk 06-24-14 and Jeep factory confirmed it will be included. Looks like all 2015 v6's will come with it.

Re: 2015 Start Stop

Good to hear. I ordered a V6 on June 25 and was told it would not be on builds before September and would not be on 4 cylinder until end of year, so things have changed for the better. I have never had this feature before so looking forward to trying it.

The needs of one do not trump the needs of many. If you don't want it don't use it, some people actually want better fuel economy.
