2016 Cherokee Overland Issues

I am a new Jeep owner and not a happy one... Purchased my Cherokee on Oct. 7th and it has 723 miles on it. Yesterday, I was driving on a four lane road at 30mph when the steering wheel yanked me to the right over the double yellow line. I had to manually jerk the steering wheel back to avoid a head on collision. The engine light immediately came on along with the infamous ACC/FCW UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED followed by PARK SENSE UNAVAILABLE. I looked at my console and both ACC and PS options were turned off.

I pulled over and shut the vehicle off. When I turned it back on, the engine light went off. I drove it another 4 miles and the ACC and PARK SENSE messages reappeared.

Later that day, I took it for another drive to see if I could duplicate the issue. About 25 miles into it, 4X4 UNAVAILABLE followed by PARK SENSE UNAVAILABLE came up. So I call my dealer to make an appointment and I open up a case with Jeep Customer Care.

While driving to work tonight, out of nowhere, the BRAKES locked up on me a 27mph with BRAKES displayed on the message interface. Scared the sh*t out of me. My dealer is 45 miles away and I am afraid to even drive the vehicle there for fear the brakes will lock up again. I have read numerous issues with the ACC/FCW but never to this extent. Any suggestions?

Hmm.. I have not read of any issues like that with the ACC / FCW after being on 4 different Cherokee forums for the last year.

Personally I would call Jeep Cust Care and arrange it to be towed back. It does not sound overly safe to be driving.

It was a widespread problem with the '13 and '14's. Most of the issues had to do with a bad OCR module.

You are correct...the issues are across several models not just the Cherokee with the ACC/FCW starting in 2013.

Re: 2016 Cherokee Overland Issues

Regardless, it is obviously a computer issue and nothing anyone but a Dealer can try to fix unfortunately.

A fault with 13/14 Grand Cherokees isn't really relevant though, as I said, this has not been an issue on the KL series.

Do you mean the ORC module? If so, that was the M35 safety recall for the Occupant Restraint Control module. It was about airbag deployment. Doubt that has anything to do with what you've described. It would help if you provided description of your vehicle. For example, what year, model, options. Have you had all recalls completed? Does your Cherokee have the tech group?

Getting beyond the confusing aspects of your post (like being yanked right over a double yellow line and ORC and there is no 2013 Jeep Cherokee), some of these things may have to do with ACC and LaneSense normal behaviors.

Re: 2016 Cherokee Overland Issues

I missed the yanked right over double yellows. So its a drive on left country, that uses miles per hour. We used to have double yellows but now pretty much double whites everywhere and use metric..

That would be more interesting if you put your location in your profile.
