2016 Cherokee Water Leak

Has anyone else dealt with a water leak from a body seam that has soaked their entire passenger side, front and back? I did find a TSB on this issue. I have all weather mats and never removed them until after winter to find my carpets soaked, so I don't know when the leak started.

My car is currently at the dealer being repaired. You can imagine with a car I've had less than 6 months with barely 4,000 miles this is certainly an aggravating inconvenience.

I am not very savvy when it comes to cars. Am I looking at long term issues with rust and corrosion? My concern is the safety of the vehicle if the leak has been there since production. The dealership has not been very straightforward with answers on the extent of the damage. The leak is being repaired and carpets replaced all under warranty at this point.

Anyone else have these issues?

I would be a little upset. Did you drive this through a salty wet Winter? If so I would've taken it to a good body shop and asked for an evaluation of damage. You still might have that option afterwards if the Jeep dealership does not do a thorough job.

Thanks for the reply! It's a New England vehicle! While we had a mild winter it was still wet and salty. My concern is the interior of the body along the path of the water. From what I understand the body seam that was leaking was just below my windshield on the passenger side and traveling along to the door jam between my front and rear doors there the water was getting in.

I will certainly have to look into an independent inspection if they cannot provide proof.

Hi RileyKF--I'm really sorry to hear this happened with your Jeep. If you'd like any additional assistance while the vehicle is at the dealership, please let us know.
