6 Flashes and 1 RO1 Done 3/26/15.

Well everythings been ok so far and the giggest flash was for the tranny snap ring problem they been having. Heres the flashes and RO1.
1 - RO1 recall for tranny (mission and powertrain control modules.
2 - Reflash for (TCM).
3 - Reflash for (BCM).
4 - Reflash for (IPC).
5 - Reflash for (PCM)
6 - Reflash for (RDM)
I have no idea what some of the flashes were for as maybe some 1 can chime in. I will keep in touch if things start to happen lol.

Hey @jim383 - Some have had issues with R01 because it reduced the use of 2nd gear, especially during downshift where it holds on to 3rd until almost full stop. But you drive yours hard and it seems this 9-speed likes that so you should be good.

Actually the RO1 was the latest and supposed greatest for the transmission to date. RO1 was the grand Daddy so far.
The RO1 includes complete delete of the PCM (Power control module) and TCM (transmission control module) software and the install of the "new" software. It is a rather complex series of functions/ procedures that have to be followed. It also includes a drive and relearn (AL manual reprogram).

They also probably got caught up on the other re-flashes like the airbag recall etc.

The only 1 i ever had noticed was the IPC with engine off with radio on as it would say low voltage. As far as the RDM i have never tried to use the 4x4 low range. The dealer said even if you never had troubles with some of the flashes we have to flash them anyway lol. As far as driving the jeep hard ionly drive in sports mode in town because of the shifting as it keeps gears in longer and it doesnt down shift a lot but on freeway i use auto mode as it will go into 8th gear where on the freeway in sports mode it will stay in 6th gear.

Ok the flashes seemed to work out ok ACCEPT for the tranny flash in auto mode. The shifts come earlier than b4 as the 1/2 shift was at 10 mph now its at 8 mph and the 2/3 shift was 20 mph now its at about 12 mph and im in 3 at 15 mph. If making a right turn from a dead stop by the time i finish the turn im in 3rd gear by 10 mph. Now sports mode didnt change at all as the 1/2 shift is at 20 mph and 2/3 shift at 30 mph.

I put my '14 Cherokee in the shop for the 4th time since last June to have the tranny fixed. They've never completed what needed to be done. First time the mechanic called in sick and they told me this after waiting 4 hours. Second time they did a partial but didn't want to do something that would take several hours. Third, I had an appt on Monday and the mechanic called in sick again. Brought it back in Tuesday. This time my car has been in the shop for 4 days and they're saying they have to get the ok from Chrysler. I do believe I'm getting the runaround?????? How long has your flashes done?

Can you take your car to another dealer to have this work done? My dealer is 40 minutes away and there's another one about 10 minutes away.

You can take it to any dealer and what i did was drop off my car and they gave me a loaner and the biggest time was they had to drive it and do a lot of down shifting and other things to get the tranny dialed in. The main reason i got the flashes was the SNAP RING PROBLEM that could happen. EVERY THINGS SEAMS OK ACCEPT WHEN COMING TO A STOP IF YOU DONT WAIT 3 SECONDS B4 YOU GO IT WILL START OUT IN 3RD GEAR AND THIS ALSO DOES IT IN SPORTS MODE AS WELL AS AUTO MODE. B4 THE FLASHES IT WOULD START DOWN SHIFTING BY ITS SELF AND IT WAS IN 1ST GEAT JUST B4 YOU STOPED SO IF YOU TOOK OFF 1 SECOND AFTER YOU STOPPED IT WAS ALREAD IN 1ST GEAR.

After 1,000 miles of AL with R01, tranny is performing better. The 3rd gear issue is much less of a PITA than it was immediately after R01. It needs to get a little bit better and then I can declare it a positive flash.

After 1400 miles of the same driving i do every day intown and some freeway i called chrysler and lodged my feelings on the recall on the snap ring and the tcm and pcm reflashes. I told them all the tcm reflash did was put a band aid on that problem and changed the down shifting coming up to a stop from going into 1st gear at 5 mph to 3 rd gear till stopped and i have to wait at least 3 seconds after the stop for it to change to 1st gear and if i dont wait the 3 seconds it will start out in 3rd gear. It also does it in sports mode but the other shift has stayed the same in sports mode. I told them i was going to drive in snow mode to see if the down shifting coming up to a stop is the same as auto and sports mode as snow mode always starts out in 2nd gear b4 the flash so now ill see what it does. The guy said it will send the complaint off asap and they took my phone number.

Jim, thank you for your reply.

I ended up getting my car back after a week in the shop. Seemed ok but now I'm having to take it back in tomorrow as this afternoon when I would put the car in reverse I would get a grinding noise. My husband said this is the transmission. Definitely taking it to a different dealer.

Talked to the mechanic that did the flashes and recalls on my jeep and he said he will rerun the learning again to see if the down shifting to a stop will change like it was b4 the flashes. As long as it down shifts into 1st gear at about 5 mph or by the time i stop ill be happy as that way i wont have to wait 3 to 4 seconds for it to get into 1st gear as the way i do it now is as soon as i stop i maunally put it into 1st and thats getting old and the wife just sits there for a few seconds untill it changes to 1st lol. I have to remember she drives like a old fudd. The tranny could start out in 9th gear she wouldnt no the diff lol.

Jim - I have NOT had the R01 done on mine yet. Today I checked out the downshifts on slowdown. You can use this as a benchmark for your tech to achieve.

3-2 at 12 mph
2-1 at 1 mph
