What nav functions are lost? I don't see where they show what the difference is anywhere?

Imagine if you take 1/8 of your year (45 days) utilizing NAV considering the build up breakdown time of your garmin is going to be 5 minutes on both ends both ways (20 minutes). That's saving you 15 hours of valuable life each year by going hands free. You could be watching the Star Wars saga to it's entirety each year with the time you save not using a Garmin.
From what I see the 7" color screen( gauge cluster )only comes on the Limited and Trailhawk. The Latitude has a different one( B&W, smaller, ??? ). Does anyone know if the Latitude can have the 7" Color screen? Does the Nav still show on there on the other screen used in the Latitude? I am really curious about that.

I have no clue what you are talking about. It takes me 30 seconds to tell my Garmin where i want to go--2 seconds to tell it to "go home".

What about your set up/break down time? I plan on using my NAV more than 1/8 of the days in the year so I was being generous with that. And don't tell me you're speed racer with the suction cup/bracket and power source connection and storage.

As for the updates, you download them yourself to what is known as a portable drive, plug it in and follow instructions based on what product you are using (in the jeeps case "Uconnect")

Check out their website Uconnect® | Find the right Uconnect system for your Jeep® Vehicle You can create a wifi hotspot with your cellular device to provide traffic updates to the NAV if that's what your looking for.

Other than that, where do you live where the roads change enough to need to update your maps any more frequent than every 3 years?

Re: 8.4 questions?

OK so my pending post is wrong, and I understand how hard it is to pirate GPS maps. Every ~3 years when NAVTEQ releases map updates it's 150 bones to download/be sent the update. I would never pay someone for this service. It's easier than changing your own oil.

Re: 8.4 questions?

some people prefer the clean built in units and some don't....that simple. Like I said...the 8.4an is not just Nav. It does many other things a garmin cannot. Plus theres resale value with the 8.4an and its options......people want that in modern cars/trucks.

You are correct--some do & some don't. IMO the fee to connect the Nav is insane, and $150 per year to keep the maps current is also insane. If I keep my Cherokee for 5 years, the total cost of the NAV would be $1200. I think I will just move my Garmin from my trade to my new vehicle.

Road construction, openings, closings take place every day. POI's also change daily. My Garmin lifetime updates allow me to get new maps every 3 MONTHS.

Aren't those things tied to SiriusXM?

It's not 150 per year, it's 150 per update, which happens every 3-5 years. And you can have your system update automatically when you sync your phone to the car and create a wi-fi hotspot. The road closures and construction will be live updates.

You should really do some research on what comes with the uConnect package. Technology is a beautiful thing!

I will agree that in the past you were getting ripped off on internal NAV but I feel like the Cherokee is still generously priced with this feature.
