My point is that my current Garmin already gives me that for life with no yearly fee.

Folks who believe that $795 plus yearly subscription fees are worthwhile should go for it. I will stick with my Garmin and invest the money I save.
OK, my point was and still is that you need to look into the uConnect subsystem. If you wanted to get all of your ducks in a row about the new 9 speed transmission are you going to rely on everything you read on Jeep's website? If you do then I would also recommend looking into ZF's website (since they are the manufacturer of the product) for better details.

I linked to the uConnect website before but since you don't want to do any research on your own I will give you in detail exactly what you receive for 795:

-Hands free texting/calling (considering you have a bluetooth phone)
-Sirius Radio
-WEB APPS (Pandora, Yelp, Facebook)
-Emergency assistance
-8.5" screen
-Traffic updates / gas price updates
-Hands free 3-D navigation

I typically am not a lonely traveller so a bigger screen isn't just a bell or whistle and even though the extras might be, it will make each adventure that much better ("no homo").

I think in the coming years NAV is going to start to be standard on any vehicle $20k+. At that point in time if you decide to sell your jeep you might wish you had it. Also, I would consider the fact that a 5" screen is still a bit large and having a seperate device anywhere on that console would be a bit tacky.

Re: 8.4 questions?

I'm sorry I didn't realize you stated you were considering the limited which comes with the 8.4" and all the fun uConnect features. At this point if you didn't want to pay the $795 I would say stop being frugal because it's going to look like you are trying to replicate Hugh Jackman's hacking station from Swordfish with that many LED screens. Good thing there is a "screen off" button!

I have the 8.4an because it was standard on the Overland. I'm real happy with the screen off button. I just wish it was the default like it was on my MDX. Most of the time I know where I'm going. And, although I listen to the radio all the time, I don't need to see who is singing or what the name is of the song that's playing.

Everybody's needs/wants are different. There is no best solution.

Never said "I" did anything illegal.

1 - I was having some fun at your expense as you are a bit over the top on this stuff( how it comes across anyway )

2 - I simply pointed out if you don't want to pay to update the maps/POI's you have options. It is up to you whether or not you take them.

Of course there is the other side. Buy a head unit that is supposed to have free maps and POI updates and then the Nav system mfg refuses to honor that and you either pay or are out of luck. I have been there on that end so I am in between on the issue.

O gee, sorry but I already turned you into the FBI for software piracy. Be sure to tell them you were just kidding when they visit you.

The new uConnect software keeps GPS aligned through the tunnels, parking garages, etc. You would know this if you did your research.
