Why would I possibly care? Will I make a left turn in a tunnel?

I for one don't have time to do endless research and appreciate those who convey what they've learned, but without the condescension.

Re: 8.4 questions?

This thread is quickly turning into balderdash. I hope you all enjoy whatever options and accessories you pick for your vehicles.

Benevolence, not balderdash. Only correcting your ignorance and opening your mind to the evolution of modern lifestyle.

No but there are tunnels that do have exits, sweeping curves, and etc. The nav will be more accurate in these situations. I've been in a few cars in the 3rd street tunnel in DC that didn't notify the driver of the exist for Mass Ave. That sucks especially if you aren't familiar with the area.

Wow!

OK,

Interesting I stopped reading this thread. I happen to use both..... I have a Garmin that I fly with for rental cars and loaner vehicles. I will gladly take the in car NAV if available. For the upgrade price it gives me complete integration into the car. Has anyone tried to do all voice command navigation with their Garmin while driving? Some states issue a ticket for touching your nav and driving!

When Garmin comes out with a 7.5 inch Nav that seamlessly integrates with my car and displays turn information in the cluster, I will then compare the two on equal footing. I don't like having any part of my view obstructed if possible and I love seeing lane assistance messages right in my cluster.

For me it matters for many it does not but a stick on / clip on Nav doesn't compare to in vehicle integrated systems. You want to get a Garmin with lifetime updates and save the money... great, I have one of those and they are good. But I am fine with updating my in car NAV and paying for it every couple of years. Beside Chrysler usually will send out a free update in the first couple of years anyway.

To each there own, nobody is making anybody buy anything

Well really, I am fine with my own opinion but seriously were some individuals trying to decide for someone else what they should buy? I tell people this all the time, you cannot make people think how you do so why waste the energy.

Anyway, I found it moderately humourous the whole turning in a tunnel conversation so I felt I needed to jump in.

No reason to offend anybody! You like Garmin go buy one, you like in vehicle great!

1) The tunnel thing was funny to me, because I have been driving for more than 50 years and have never been in a tunnel where any type of route deviation was possible.

2) I already own a Garmin with Lifetime updates included. When I bought it, it saved me $800 over an onboard unit for my current car, and it will continue to save me money if I buy a Cherokee Limited with the luxury group.
