In any case, on our Cherokees (KLs), the auto parking break is an option and can be selected or deselected (manual set only) through the settings menu. Perhaps it's the same on your WK2s.

On the Cherokee KLs, the hatch will only close manually if it has been open for a long period - not sure of the timing, but I've noticed it and seen it referenced in this forum. Perhaps it's the same on your WK2s.

The fact that the wk2 does not come with the elctronic parking brake is a big indicator.

Re: A year in my TRAILHAWK

My choice is definitely towards a stiffer suspension but this one over did it a bit. Our weekend in Waterford was at the Waterford Hills track and my son's race car has a suspension that would make the Limited feel spongy.

In our case the choice of the Limited was dictated by the transfer case with neutral for towing. Otherwise "she who must be obeyed" would have stuck with her Escape that was 8 inches shorter. Having said that, I find the Cherokee has a lot of features I really like. A week ago I swapped my 2012 T&C for an almost identical (this time no power third tow seat) 2014. I must have been blind because I did not notice that they downgraded the best radio available for the T&C Limited to the 430N - which is an absolute pile of crap compared with our Cherokee's system. I'd love to have the 8.4AN in the T&C.

Thinking of it a little more, what would be nice in the Cherokee would be an adjustable suspension so one could soften it a bit when desired. Mind you, by the time I got through with my wish list who knows where the price would end up.

Re: A year in my TRAILHAWK

apparently I need to clear up my complaint with the automatic parking brake. I have no issue with the automatic mode as that is something you can turn off which has been discussed here before. my issue is that the break will still engage automatically even if the auto mode is turned off if you open a door or the hatch or even if a door is ajar. when you spend as much time at boat ramps I do this gets really annoying real quick.

You can probably switch out the off road suspension shocks for stock sport shocks and get the feel you are looking for. I drive a Wrangler. I test drove a TH and a latitude with ADII off road... those are not very stiff suspensions, I thought they controlled the weight of the CH very well in corners. An adjustable suspension is an interesting idea but again.. big $$

Apologies, but I looked at these clues:
> the Jeep in your profile is shown as 2012 and 3.6L (not possible with a KL),
> the thread was started 5/13/2012 (before the KL launch), and
> the thread title is "A Year In My TRAILHAWK" (not possible with KL TH).

So somewhere in the 300 + posts the thread theme jumped WK2 to KL and you acquired a Cherokee - Trailhawk? OK, no worries. Hopefully my reply was helpful but if not please ignore.

Carry on.

Profile is old. True... he has been so excited about driving the TH since last fall he forgot to update the profile.
Before KL Launch. He started the thread last May when he wanted to order one and they were originally going to go on sale.
The "A year in my TRAILHAWK" theme was the intent to share with us his experiences with the vehicle over the course of a year... not intended as a past tense thesis... but more like a on going diary.

Hopefully that is helpful.

Wow thanks so much. I couldn't have typed it any better myself. I'll step to it updating my profile.

Re: A year in my TRAILHAWK

I am strongly considering buying a 2015 Trailhawk when they become available. It would be my first Jeep.

What do you think of your Uconnect 8.4AN radio and NAV? Pros/cons/recommendations? TIA.

Read your comments about the auto-parking brake. Features you found annoying I would appreciate. Never know when someone's complaint might serve as another person's recommendation.

Re: A year in my TRAILHAWK

8.4AN is outstanding and I've seen publications that have rated it tops in the world.

We love it. I just traded my 2012 T&C for a 2014 T&C. Chrysler downgraded the 730N (in my 2012) to a 430N (in the 2014) as the best unit available. Frankly, both are a piece of junk in comparison to the 8.4AN. I'll be trading the 2014 T&C for a 2016 to get the 8.4AN.

Here is a review you may find helpful.

I'm thrilled with the 8.4Uconnect. I tint windows for a living and do pickup and delivery which has me driving just about everything. In my opinion nothing else compares.

Question Re: A year in my TRAILHAWK

Originally Posted by Q Tech View Post

it seems that at around 10,000 miles it began getting noticeably better gas mileage. I have 11,300 miles on it to date. On a trip that I take rather often that involves a mixture off significant hills and flatland miles (170 miles) cruising 65 most of the time I'm averaging 26.4mpg. Or 19.8-20.5 mpg towing my boat.

Couple things I'd change;

I hate everything about the auto parking brake and everything related to it engaging at any time other than when I chose.

When the auto on feature is on both seat heaters should come on rather than just the drivers seat.

When remotely starting, it should start regardless if doors and hatch are open or closed.

Not sure why the hatch sometimes will only close manually.

Why 9 speeds? Mine has NEVER seen 9th gear.

Only problem Ive had;

My odometer is blinking. My local dealer has no clue why and I'm not comfortable leaving it with them.
3 new questions:
1. Why did you feel uncomfortable leaving it with the local dealer?
2. Was the blinking odometer fixed?
2. Are there tie-downs in the floor of the cargo area?
TIA.
