Re: Ordering my TRAILHAWK

I managed to get over to our local Jeep dealer to see the new Cherokee. They had a black Trailhawk that looked pretty loaded.
First off, the fit and finish is excellent. I have a BMW and it is easily on par with that. Soft touch and upgraded materials throughout. It isn't very big, but with that I also think it is larger than it appears. I am 6' tall and had no trouble in the back with the driver seat adjusted to fit me when I was up front.
Two things really stood out - one was the sky slider. This thing is way cool. It really opens the vehicle up. The other was the screen between the gauges. Pretty good resolution and tons of functionality.
There were two guys there that both worked on the line at Jeep. One worked in QC near the end of the line. He said they are really stepping up the quality control. Lots of measurements taken for door fit, component fit, etc. The other guy didn't say where he worked but it sounded like in the body shop. He said they are having some trouble with the suppliers keeping up. I couldn't figure out if it was quality control in the parts or if it related to fitment and tweaks needed to be made. Regardless, he said they are only building one car per day right now. These are going to regulations and crash testing. He said they will start building customer cars on the 17th. Not sure if this is bulk order or special order. If I do the math though and they want to sell 250,000 of these then that's, lets see, carry the one.... 250,000 days.
Unfortunately my kids were all in a rats nest and we had to cut the visit short so I didn't get to take a million pictures. Most of these you can find on the web anyway. Let me know if you want to see something specific but this is the bulk of the good ones. I can throw in a headlight, tow hook, or side mirror if you want to see it.

Re: Ordering my TRAILHAWK

I like these pictures better than some of the spy photos from others. How was the comfort of the drivers seat? To me it seems like they are all hard as a rock these days. The Equinox and Terrains i drove all seem like your sitting on a folding chair....then again my ass print is etched in my GC limited so it just fits me right. If you had any more of the interior that would be nice, but I will do a Google search to see what else is out there.

Very comfortable. Firm but not too firm. It seems to have a ton of adjustment. I think 4 way lumbar, etc, and 8 way power adjust.

I will see if I have any other good interior shots. I found a ton on google.

It really took it up a notch for me. The material quality and attention to detail is really evident. Even my wife seemed pretty impressed and she usually just rolls her eyes at me over this stuff.

Re: Ordering my TRAILHAWK

Judsonpitt, how does the quality and effective coverage area of the jeep all weather mats compare to husky liner mats?

Not as thick and definitely less coverage.

Re: Ordering my TRAILHAWK

thanks for the pictures!

I was not a fan of this Cherokee in the launch pictures, but I do like the look of the Trail Hawk in your photos.

I'd buy one of these if the fuel economy were better, I cannot justify another daily driver that gets less than 30mpg.

Re: Ordering my TRAILHAWK

I think that vehicle looks a LOT better in your pictures than the marketing ones we have seen.

Now that we have a rough idea on price the biggest thing I want to see is how much room it has inside. At 6"3" and 300lbs it can't be tiny like so many others in this class are. Hopefully it at least has the same room as my Patriot. If it has that I will seriously look into one of these next year.

The FWD 4 banger is rated at 31, that is good enough for me. I wonder what the AWD version gets??

The new Cherokee is larger than the outgoing Liberty which was larger than the Patriot. It's not "big" per say but it has a nice space to it.

my guess would've been that the Trail Hawk version is not FWD.
