After warranty - does FCA charge for TSB's?

Hi - Anyone have any experience with getting a TSB done after the 3/36 runs out? Or if you have an extended warranty - I have a Zurich extended....how that works?

Thanks!

Re: After warranty - does FCA charge for TSB's?

I believe they cannot. All TSB's have to be completed for free. My son just had a TSB on his Honda CRV that was 100K mile car and it was free.

TSB is not a recall, yes they charge for update out of warranty.

Hi guitar54,

TSBs are generally covered based on whichever factory warranty applies to the component being updated. Once your vehicle is outside of its factory warranties dealerships can charge for TSBs. In regards to your third party extended warranty you would need to work with your provider to see what is covered under your plan. Recall repairs however are always free of charge and you can view any recalls on your vehicle by visiting think link and entering your VIN: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls.html.

Andrea brings up a good point. Drivetrain and emissions are a couple of thing with warranties outside the 3/36.

So if I'm out of the 3/36 and there is a trans TSB, I can bring the KL in and it will be updated for free? Just want to clarify.

Thanks - Chris

Hi Chris,

Some components of the transmission are considered electronic so those updates would be covered by your Basic Limited Warranty, not Powertrain. Your dealership will be best able to identify which warranty an update would be covered under.

That's really splitting hairs when components of the transmission are left out of the drive train warranty. That's the kind of stuff that gives manufacturers the bad reputation some have.
