I am one of those rare people who has never had a transmission flash, TSB, or recall done to my transmission and it shifts just fine. My Cherokee was custom ordered and delivered 11/13. I am not about to mess with something that is working.
It could well be that the dealer needs to know what they're doing and has to pay attention to details to successfully reflash these transmissions.

Re: Another 9-speed transmission thread.......

So that's cool, but I've noticed that it depends on one's driving. If I just drive around my neighborhood - not going on the highway and most importantly, not going into traffic, these issues don't happen.

It's as simple as that.

But when I was in traffic on the expressway it's danger city. It all depends on one's driving habits.

I took a trip to LV from the Midwest and all was cool. And I was towing a large U-Haul. On the way back..wobble wobble.

So a blanket statement on these crap software fixes is not accurate.

I believe the trans hardware is fine - it's the FCA software engineers. Other companies who use the same trans have zero issues....

Re: Another 9-speed transmission thread.......

Update - Dealer would not flash all 9 due to they not affecting the trans. So the did a BCN refresh - no change. This trans thing is absolutely ridiculous.

Next vehicle will NOT be a JEEP. And my word of mouth will be for others to not buy.

Those of you who have no issues - you are lucky.

Part of the problem is the author, who is supposed to be an automotive enthusiast, doesn't even know there is no manual mode in the 9 speed. You can move the lever to the left and define a range of gears but you can not shift it like a manual transmission. So for me this article lacks credibility because the author doesn't know what he is talking about.

I think that is very dealer dependent concerning the flashes. My dealer just automatically loads all available flashes when I am in there without me saying a word. Which I'm glad they do, the only area I would not want that automatically done is probably the transmission, as several people have reported that new flashes could induced trans shifting issues on a trans that is already functioning fine

Agreed. My dealer's service department is very large and appears to have an excellent reputation. They select the 9 modules to flash (see posts above) to resolve my transmission. It was a success!!! But it could be a crap shoot if the service writer and mechanic aren't fully knowledgeable of the challenges with this 9 speed tranny.

Re: Another 9-speed transmission thread.......

this is the 3rd time i have taken my wife's car in for the dang popping and every time they said its fine and there are no issues.

It drives me insane because im wasting my time dropping off the car each time. There has to be a way to complain to corporate or something.

Re: Another 9-speed transmission thread.......

Total crap. I agree. For those who think they don't have an issue - it all depends on how you drive. If you drive highway - you will not see these issues - but stop and go - a death trap.

Re: Another 9-speed transmission thread.......

Apparently the customer service site email portion just loads. I called customer service and escalated to Jeep.
Got it back and the effin thing goes close to red line the WHAM and shifts.. i almost feel like you have to get the lifetime warranty just to survive with this thing.

The Dealership gave it back to you in that condition ? Seriously ?

I'd take it straight back to the dealership and have the Service Mgr drive it.

Looks like you're headed to be a candidate for the Lemon Law.
