Toledo North Assembly is running a week to two weeks behind on customer orders. They currently are working two 9 hours shifts. Plans are to either change that to two, twelve hour shifts after the first of the year or hire another complete shift. It seems like the market is flooded with dealer ordered FWD Cherokees and customer ordered 4WD Cherokees are taking a long time to get built and shipped. Customer orders were supposed to take precedence but that didn't happen in the beginning. Chrysler was anxious to build dealer inventory so started with those since they figured a customer order was a captive sale. Add to that, that shipping is a complete logistical nightmare and that Dealer Connect, JeepStatus.com, VOTS, and MOTS are not always kept up to date. Because of that they often times disagree with each other. My Cherokee had an estimated ship date of 11/4 and wasn't even built until 11/7. LOL, it currently is in storage after inspection. That is another problem. Chrysler is not releasing a truck or train car unless it is full. That means a Jeep can set for days or even weeks until that happens.
