I'm about 6', 200lbs and fairly broad shouldered, with "farmer's hips" as my wife calls them - think like Barry Sanders - not near your specs, though. I was in a CRV, an Escape, Rav-4, and 3 different Cherokees. My personal feelings are that the CRV "felt" like it had the most room, but only because the Cherokee kind of wrapped around me. Not that the seat bolsters were in my sides, just that the controls and steering wheel seemed to be perfectly positioned like a cockpit.

I wish my internet connection was faster...I live in the sticks and have wireless internet or dial-up as my choices. There are a few ready to go, but I'll have to put them in order and edit them real quick. Maybe about 8 or so the first batch will be up.
Thanks

She was sold based on what she saw, but I told her that if it comes in and she hates it for some reason, I'd give her deposit back. We're going to sell these like crazy, so if she backed out I wouldn't be too upset (as long as it's the car's fault and not mine).

While I get being cautious, I think I'd order one for myself as well, if I had the money and the need for a replacement vehicle.
I hope they've already begun working on adding more stuff to the Cherokee, as I expect it to be pretty much the mainstream Jeep soon.

The Wrangler is kewl, hardcore, true blue, but possibly a bit too hardcore for a wider market buyer.

The Grand has moved up so far it might as well move a bit further and become a true luxury SUV instead of trying to hang onto near luxury. Its pretty pricey, enough to keep emerging buyers away.

Even in what is 4wd country, I've always seen more Cherokees and Libertys by far than Grands, and don't expect this to change with the new one.

It would be nice to have real 4wd on more than just one model, and adding some beans to take on the Ford Explorer would really be nice, since the Grand tends to be
pricier than the Explorer.

Of course the Grand Wagoneer will be interesting, as would a direct injection set of Hemis...

...gives me a chance to shoot the breeze with the local sales folks.

Reported this morning: "Chrysler Group LLC has built more than 12,000 2014 Jeep Cherokees, but has not shipped a single one to dealers and is still working to resolve a problem with the programming of the crossover’s new nine-speed transmission."

The date on it was 10/11/2013. I guess old news is new news in Detroit.

Re: Are dealers ordering these?

We just had short training class with the Jeep trainer. A few interesting tidits.

1. Sport models do not have a standard spare tire, only the inflator kit. A spare can be ordered, though. Not sure if it is a full size or space saver at this point.

2. Luxury package does not have underseat storage in passenger seat.

3. Glove box is supposed to be deep enough for a standard (15" ?) laptop

4. Charging pad - you will need an aftermarket case for your phone, available through Mopar, et al. Also, DO NOT place keys, change, other items in the vicinity of the charging cradle. It will be very, very hot.

5. CHMSL has a gyro in it that is tied to a theft alarm. If the vehicle is locked and it is jacked up or tilted to so many degrees, the alarm will trigger. To disable/disarm, press "lock" 3 times.

6. User is required to apply brake and gas when using parallel/perpendicular parking assist. You can automatically override the system by steering wheel.

7. Skyslider sunroof will not be available until 2015 due to vendor negotiations.

8. Adaptive cruise control must be set after regular cruise is set, and has 4 ranges - short, medium, far, extra far or something like that. There is not a printed distance for legal reasons.

9. Lane departure only works on paved roads with lines at a speed greater than 37 mph - meaning it will not work if there is snow covering the road...or most of Michigan since they don't pave anything outside of city limits. And you must have a hand on the steering wheel. The system relies on a video camera just below the rearview mirror, which obviously must have a clear field of view.

10. Heated wipers...a heating element at the base of the windshield warms the wiper blade when the temp drops below 32*F.

11. As of last night, there have been none, zero, zilch, Cherokees shipped anywhere in the US or Canada for sale regardless of what anyone has heard or said. This is directly from the Detroit/Toledo Regional trainer, who met with the Jeep production manager yesterday. There are appx. 11,000 units on the ground, but some are moving into the "packing" phase of delivery - being loaded onto rail cars & truck trailers.

Re: Are dealers ordering these?

How many Jeep dealerships are there? With many reports a few weeks old of
12,000 made, perhaps we could guess that at least 15,000 are made and on the way, or about to be fixed, tested, then shipped. How many per dealer, on average?
