Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Did it Ordered a white Limited 3.2 Pentastar with most of the options.

Damon at Bayford Chrysler Jeep Dodge in East Hawthorn (or Camberwell) was excellent to deal with. The whole buying process was great.

When it's my turn to get my Grand Cherokee I'll be going back there.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Hi enjens, I said to Damon (the salesman) that I can expect delivery around January then, and he replied with a "Oh, I'd hope that you'll have it before then. Maybe November or December".

Far out - what did you have to do to get that price ? We were originally looking for a Limited with Tech/Convenience at the very most and still got quoted $51.9K - why do I feel we could have got a better deal ?

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

Yes I did, and still do SJandL, but both of our cars are coming to the end of their loan / lease terms and my Wife needs a new car more than me, so she got "first dibs" at a new car.

My car is still excellent so I'll pay the "balloon" and keep it for another year or two, then I can upgrade to a JGC then. In the meantime I'll just stay in envy of all of you here and keep track on the Grand Cherokee's progress.

I hear you Paul. As I was driving over there today I was setting myself up to get the Limited with all of those options for $55K and anything under that would've been a bonus.

I don't know anything about being a new car salesman but maybe it was the last day of the month and he needed a sale to boost his monthly quota. I'm just guessing though.

However before anyone screams "blue murder" at their own salesman, I think that the real reason for the good price in our situation is because we traded a couple year old BMW X1 that had some decent options and very low kilometres. So we probably got screwed on the BMW trade-in price, hence the good Cherokee price.

Which is the other tactic they use - lower the car price to reflect the trade in - we have a Barina which garnered just short of 8K ... when I got to asking for a bit more room they said if they discount too much they won't get them to sell via Chrysler - not sure if that's true or not - but we did get almost $1K off what was initially quoted.

Just waiting for a few minor finance hurdles to be cleared.

Yep, I'll be surfing CarSales and CarsGuide over the next few weeks and I'm sure that I'll see that BMW X1 for sale at $8 - $10K over what they they gave us for a trade in.

Not to worry though, that BMW was the most expensive Garden Gnome in Melbourne and we're happy that we're not paying for a car that was not being used. The wife never drove it because it was just a little too small, too low and a manual. She's very happy with our choice of the Cherokee now and we can't wait until it arrives.

Until then she'll continue to use my car, like she has for the past 2 years.

Re: Australian MY14 KL Cherokee thread

I have gone to a D1 status. I think an Oct delivery is the go (maybe even a little bit earlier).

I, and I'm sure others, are looking forward to reading about the build and delivery timeline. That is great news

So looking forward to a real owners CRD feedback as there doesn't seem to be any around that I have found so far (other than some favourable UK press reviews).

I did have a couple of Alfa Romeo Guiletta Diesel rentals in the UK a couple of years ago and they had strong motors so that was a positive...
