B Pillar Noise.....

My Jeep has exhibited its first problem..... noises in the B pillar. The dealer says it's probably "body flex" and it is what it is, no fix necessary. Frankly it does sound like that - a creak at start from dead stop and creak at a final stop. But there's also a slight rattle like sound in the B pillar when driving over slight bumps.

Do/did any of you have a body flex creak and/or bump-induced rattle in the B pillar? Fix?

I'll probably switch dealers, as this dealer gave me a hassle doing the tranny update....first saying they couldn't do it under warranty based on their driving test. Then when I provided them the relevant TSB requiring the update at customer request, they said OK. Sloppy as was the delivery prep.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: B Pillar Noise.....

If you do a search on B Pillar at 2014 Jeep Cherokee Forums there are a few that have brought up noise in that area. Will tell you in advance there are no reported solutions there that I could find.

Re: B Pillar Noise.....

I have a creaking that just developed at around 20K miles at the drivers side rear tire area; I image it is part of the suspension. Creaks at first move and stop as well as sway. Also creaks when entering and exiting vehicle as well as just pushing sideways on car. I am planning on having it checked out soon but imagine it will just be considered a "normal" sound and not repairable.

Thanks. I did do a general web search - lots of B pillar stuff but no KL specific problems or solutions. My Jeep Cherokee Club searches didn't turn up any B pillar specific recommedations...as Array notes.

Re: B Pillar Noise.....

I was having this problem too.
I took it back to the dealer this week because I was convinced it was not normal.
They were able to hear the knocking and creaking. They adjusted the striker plate and it hasn't made any noise since. HTH

JGA, Thanks. I took mine to a different dealer and they solved the problem - same as your solution.
