Cherokee Questions

Hi there, I'm a new member hoping you folks can help me. I have a 2014 Jeep Trailhawk. I love it, but within the first month my instrument panel died, and had to be replaced. It works fine, but intermittently my instrument panel will reboot. Last time it took two weeks to get fixed, so I keep putting off taking it to the dealer, since I doubt there are any codes in the system anyway. I'm hearing there are electrical problems with the vehicle anyway. What is the experience of the group??

I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited 3.2L ADII. It was custom built 11/13. With a minor exception of some grease on the back of the front disc pads causing some squeaks, my Jeep has been perfect. The dealer replaced both the front brake pads and the rotors to make sure I was well pleased. Ever since then the only times my Jeep has gone back to the dealer are for oil changes, tires rotations, and Uconnect updates. I just received via Fed Ex the stuff to update my navigation maps which I am going to attempt doing myself. I am well pleased with my Cherokee and bought the Mopar Lifetime service contract as I intend to keep it a very long time. BTW, I have experienced none of the common 9 speed transmission problems. I think that is because I have had none of the flashes, TSBs, or recalls done to the transmission. I was just out today for a short trip and I have to say driving my Cherokee put a big smile on my face.

Check the fuses that they are seated. A loose fuse could cause that reboot.
In fact a bad/loose ground or connecter could do it also.
Just a thought considering they just worked on the unit.

Let us know how your install went.
A work of caution as I did mine yesterday.
Push Button start/FOB Cherokees seem to shut off after 20 minutes if the engine is not running. This interrupts the install and when you turn it back on it starts over. I had to push the start button as soon as I noticed it shutting down before the screen went blank. Kind of a pain but it got it done.
Also if you want to idle your vehicle for the 45 minutes that might eliminate the problem as long as You leave the FOB in the vehicle.
The instructions were not clear on this.
If its a key ignition there is no issue.
Good luck

Re: Cherokee Questions

Thanks, taking it in this morning. It does seem like a loose wire or fuse Hope they can figure it out.

As requested:

Installed the map update today. Everything went smoothy. Let my Jeep idle during the update. Not great for the gas mileage but beat playing games with the push button ignition switch.

Thanks, as the next update for u-connect or maps I will for sure let it run.
Not worth the pain, but nice to be updated.

Re: Cherokee Questions

I have a 2015 Limited, ADII, loaded with everything. I've had all the flashes and radio updates. I have had no problems since I purchased this in September of 2014. I have 12,000 miles on it and love to drive it.

Just my $.02 worth.
