Cherokees to be shipped next week
Jeep Production has now built the critical number of Cherokees to stock dealerships, so states the article in this morning's Toledo Blade (9/23).
Jeep even layed off some employees for a week or two as employees do final checks before releasing to dealers with lengthy 2 hour test drives.
No vehicles have been shipped to dealers yet. The early-built vehicles required recalibration and all Cherokees are now undergoing extended quality validation. There is not a problem but with a new engine, a new 9-speed transmission and new torque converter, they want to make sure they are perfect.
The Cherokee is essentially ready for buyers, but Jeep is being extra cautious on this complex launch. Union officials say the vehicles will begin being released next week.
