Re: Code I Inspection ???

Did you call the customer service number to have them research it?

23 days in I! Don't waste your time calling or emailing their customer assistance. They are absolutely no help. They just look at the same stuff you are seeing and say "It's pending inspection that's all I know". You might try a legal route if you have a family attorney to get you some info. I've given up and turning to this avenue for information. There has got to be better information for customer ordered vehicles of the same model that are sitting dormant. When others are moving along.

In the old days when you ordered a car you were told 4 to 10 weeks, we'll call you when it comes in. There was no other information available so people got on with their lives.

Now we recommend legal action to get information about a car we don't own yet.

In the old days people were happier.

In the old days corporations told people whatever they wanted and got away with whatever they wanted. Corporate America needs to be held accountable for what they offer. Tracking is offered and with today's technology this shouldn't be an issue. We have committed to buy these cars. I would have gladly paid a large deposit on my car if asked to. At today's prices we want them equipped the way we want them. Quality built in a timely efficient manner. I was told 6-8 weeks, Tuesday is 8 weeks. Chrysler, not me, put an estimated delivery date on my car of Dec. 24. Tues. it will be 2 weeks beyond that date with no update. It has been sitting in (I) at a lot for 22 days with no other codes as to why it hasn't been inspected. Can anyone explain why other cars are moving built 1-2 weeks after mine and others sitting dormant. Doesn't seem they can. If I was seeing updates why my ordered built vehicle was sitting dormant while others are moving I wouldn't have an issue. I'd rather be bragging and talking about a car I have been wanting since I heard about it's development. I think I just need to take this app off my iPad or cancel my membership I would be happier. And so would you Chrysler guys. 😊

Re: Code I Inspection ???

You were given an estimate not a contractually definitive date. You have no legal grounds and its ridiculous to think you might actually go that route. Patience, you'll get your car.

If you had noticed I said "estimated" that is 2 weeks past with no updates. And I did start and sign deal papers because my dealer wanted proof there was a legit buyer. Due to Chrysler thinking dealers fake orders to get cars. All I want is information on why my order is sitting dormant for 3 weeks in inspection. Why orders placed and built after mine are moving. I do not feel this is an unreasonable but fair request of Chrysler. But I guess you still can't question the big corporate car industry even though we bailed Chrysler out with our tax dollars to the tune of $10,748,284,222. Time for football game 2. This is fun come back and play again.

Re: Code I Inspection ???

Yeah. Estimates can change...otherwise they'd be called something else, like guaranteed. The fact you can have the opportunity to track it, even if shoddily, is fairly new and uncommon. It probably has to do with batching or specific trim parts shortages as to why others are moving quicker than yours. Entitled much?

No! I have busted my butt since day one out of high school for everything I have for over 35 years in the broadcast industry. From the mail room to an Emmy Award winning Director. So when I make a commitment to spend close to $38,000 on something and receive estimates that are showing to be way off. I feel questioning why is not entitlement but a normal reasonable response. But now I'm going to do meditation and practice patience.

Randy:

I understand what you are going through. It took 8 weeks for my Limited II to be built and delivered and I had a little inside help pushing it along. The purpose of my post is to suggest to you that you calmly meet with the sales manager of your dealership and politely ask him to call in a one time favor. Have him ask his Chrysler dealer rep to find out what is going on with your Cherokee. If you do it calmly and explain this is a one time request and that you won't repeatedly ask I think you will get cooperation. The dealer rep has enough pull he can find out exactly what is going on. But just a suggestion, don't do any of this with an attitude even if you do feel as if you have been wronged. You need to understand something. Chrysler has nothing personal against you but you are just a number on a spread sheet. Even if you were to cancel your order and walk away two more people will order behind you. Its just the nature of business.

I have another suggestion for you. The supplier park is a fascinating operation at Toledo. Why don't you have your news crew do a documentary about it? Both you and everyone here could learn much from that. You can justify it by the Cherokee being new and innovative. I think if you were to call either Chrysler or the UAW that either one would be happy to set it up for you. If the Cherokee wins the Truck of the Year Award at the Detroit International Auto Show in about 10 days you would have the jump on one hot story.

Thanks macfan,

I visited the dealer last week and they have treated me great. They don't get the frustrated guy because they aren't the problem. My salesman is just as upset with it not moving because it affects him as well. Will try the rep. deal if I don't see movement soon. Like you said we are just a number on a spec sheet to Chrysler. They also know that most of the frustration from 90% of people will fall on the dealers. Not where it should go to, Chrysler who doesn't give a damn about the little guy. Like you said they going to sell it no matter what because there is a demand. I am a little worried and noticing that the issue is consistent with Cherokees sent to MI. Just read a post on another board from a guy with the same issues with a Cherokee sitting dormant in MI for 3 weeks now like mine. He was informed of the possibility of it sitting there until Jan 25! Something is up in my mind with vehicles sent there. But nobody is willing to say why. Cherokees staying in the Toledo area seem to be making progress. The MOTS info, although frustrating, is full of details and who's getting moved through and who isn't if you are willing to read it all and connect the dots.

As for the documentary idea. The Toledo ABC station has already done a multi part series on the building of the Cherokee that was outstanding. I'm going to work on our Consumer Affairs reporter on doing report on the pros and cons of ordering a vehicle.
