Re: Engine Stop HELP!
My Jeep does not have auto start/stop and I was glad for that when I bought it. Subsequently I bought a 2015 Jaguar and it has that dredded auto start/stop. However, after using it for a while, I got comfortable with it and learned a few fine points to help: (1) just a slight release of brake pressure restarted the car......so sometimes I anticipate a "green" and restart a few seconds before launch, (2) auto stop doesn't happen if the final brake pressure is very light when the vehicle finally stops, so sometimes I lighten up as I roll to a stop and the engine doesn't stop. Having learned that, I am really warming up to auto start/stop........it takes a while to get get comfortable with it but the restart is amazingly fast.
That leaves the open point about impact on the battery, starter and engine. Time will tell, but I'm not worrying about that.
I don't expect the auto manufacturers to back off to allowing a default "off" if they've certified city driving mileage with auto start/stop functioning properly.
It may grow on you over time, as it does work reliably....and very fast...in my car.
