I bought my Blue Ox baseplates for my 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk from a seller on ebay and had a experience. The seller on ebay was wegotwhatyouneedrv. I paid $369 for them.

Re: Flat towing behind an RV

Does anyone that has wired in the lights have info on wiring the toad stop/turn/taillights? A wiring diagram or color codes would help.

@Larry111: Do you have the info about wire color codes? I ran the wires to the back taillights and now am trying to figure out which wires I should use without poking thru insulation or cutting what doesn't need to be cut.

Blue Ox Baseplate for Trailhawk <== Here is the link to the post.

Idsoles1066 did a great writeup with pics. That whole thread titled Blue Ox Baseplate for Trailhawk is packed with great stuff.

Note: I posted this same message on JCC trying to catch up with you. Sounds like you are in the thick of it now. Good luck!

Re: Flat towing behind an RV

I just towed my TH for approx. 400 miles and it towed much better compared to my old Liberty CRD, the TH is close to 500 lbs lighter to begin with. I am still working on the sequence of getting into neutral, not as simple as the mechanical approach on the Liberty. I went with the wireless light set up vs's cutting into the wiring system and I have to tell you the wireless unit worked great and I placed the lights on the TH's roof and makes for great visibility when I have the bike rack on with a cover. I would 100% recommend going wireless, sure beats cutting into the complicated electric system.

Re: Flat towing behind an RV

@rpasetto, Like Array says that thread has a lot of good information and not just from me.
Also I have a photo album of a lot of pics of putting on the BlueOx baseplates and wiring up for the toad/tow lights and all. Here is the link to that photo album. http://www.jeepgarage.org/members/53393-albums346.html.
Mine TH worked great and towed great for the over 3,000 miles that we towed it in May/June behind our RV.

On that long trip, did you have any overnights where you didn't disconnect the Jeep? Did you feel it necessary to run the Jeep in the AM to warm it up or charge the battery?

There were a couple of nights that I did not unhook the toad. No I did not crank up the toad in the morning. I have a 12v connection from the RV for supplemental brakes and the lights work off the rv so there is nothing to drain the battery.

Supposed to be cooled off by our standards but still may not for you, lol. Probably highs in low to mid 80's and in upper 60's at night but can vary a lot around here :-)
