Front End Rattle Solved
Just an FYI, I saw some people had this unresolved issue on a few other forums.
I had a very loud rattle coming from the front end of my 2014 Cherokee Latitude. The rattle was only present when the vehicle was at stop in drive. When the transmission was moved to neutral or the vehicle accelerated the rattle would stop. This was not the same as the subtle engine noise common on the 4 cylinder.
Brought the vehicle to the dealership and they found that 3 of the 4 bolts holding the manifold at the front end had fallen out. They replaced the 3 bolts and everything is back to normal.
I have just under 70K miles on the vehicle. Unfortunately, the dealer says this is not covered under warranty because they don't get reimbursed unless they have a defective part to send back to jeep; since the bolts had completely fallen out at some point, there was nothing to send back.
I contacted Jeep and they were less than helpful - they basically said the dealer tells us what is covered under warranty. Generally, if the manifold had been damaged it would have been covered but the bolts holding the manifold were not. Oh well, have an open case, not sure if I'm going to escalate it; warranty says all exhaust parts and components are covered.
Overall still very happy with the vehicle at 70K miles and would purchase another.
