I have orerd a 2014 Cherokee Limited with a six. After going through many of the comments on this site, I wonder if I made a serious mistake.
The number of negative comments about the Tranny reliability associated with this car is astounding.
So, it comes down to a crap shoot. Luck, not quality seems to be the siren call of the day.

Disgusted....Richard

It's easy to look at message forms and get an uneasy feeling! When I was researching what vehicle to buy next I joined lots of other sites for research. They all have something in common!!! People voicing their problems about there vehicle. I have learned that in life some people will never be satisfied and it's their mission to tell everybody. The grand cherokee is a great vehicle just not perfect!! I've got a 14 and it's been problem free, go figure?

Thanks....The grand is a great car. I'm talking about the new smaller Cherokee with the 9 speed nightmare.

Richard:

I left the other 2014 Cherokee forum because it drove me nuts with the complainers over there whining over every imagined problem. I ordered my 2014 Cherokee Limited II with the 3.2L back in September. It was delivered just before Thanksgiving. I have a little problem with OCD and being a perfectionist. I can honestly tell you with a little over 1,200 miles on it that it has been perfect so far. Don't let the people who have too much time on their hands and are looking for a problem influence you. Toledo can't build Cherokees fast enough to meet the demand for them and that wouldn't be the case if there really were problems. I would suggest you get your 2014 Cherokee information from allpar. They have a better track record of being more accurate. There has not been one recall on this vehicle yet. There have been a couple of TSBs but a lot of people misunderstand TSBs. Just because there is a TSB out on your vehicle doesn't mean that it has the problem or that you should have the TSB done. My theory is that if you don't have a problem don't go looking for one, fix an imaginary problem, and thereby cause a real problem by doing so. My 2014 Cherokee has performed admirably through this extremely tough Michigan winter and I would highly recommend it.

Whether it is faulty ignitions, sudden acceleration or moisture in your ecoboost no car is perfect. Once you get behind the wheel of your jeep your confidence will be restored. I have had my TH five days now and I am loving every minute of it. This is my first post on this forum so I want to thank all the members for their insightful comments. It really helped me choose the best package for my needs. I only wish someone had warned me how hard it is to keep your foot off the accelerator! Loving the 3.2L and transmission combo.

Re: Fuselage10

I have about 1500 miles on my Cherokee TH with 3.2 and couldn't be happier. Like others have said, people will find problems and then complain about the one little thing but fail to say all that they love about the vehicle. I can tell you that I have been very happy with how the vehicle shifts (smooth) and handles hills. We have a section of road coming into my town that is a gradual but long hill. In my Subaru, caravans and truck, if you have it on cruise and hit the hill...they all shifted HARD and it sounded like the engine would explode. In my TH, I haven't felt that driving on that hill. In fact, I didn't even realize that I had made it up the hill without having a heart attack from the downshifting and have to race for the brake.

Don't even get me started on finally being able to kick it down and pass someone without worrying if I will make it...You made the right decision....

Re: Fuselage10

F-10, I've had my C-TH, V-6, with tech, confort/convenience and UConnect package. Everything works as it should (no initial delivery defects that I have found so far), and the transmission is settling down nicely after initial period rougher than expected shifts. I did a 15 mile off-road outing, testing the various 4WD modes, including low range, and it performed very well.

The odds are with you - go for it!!!!

I have about 2,600 miles on my v6 limited ADI. I have had one hard shift. Most shifts I never feel. Some I do but not hard.

Re: Fuselage10

I have 1900 miles and its been shifting perfect. Couple hundred miles of AL then all was smooth. This is on a pre 12/16 build. I have scheduled it to get the update to be safe.
I would also strongly recommend that break in be followed to the letter.
If the gears transmission/axle(s) are overheated early on damage will result. That is before they have had a chance to temper/meld by allowing to heat up and cool down under increasing loads. This 9 speed has lots of gears and clutches to heat up. If the transmission fluid is overheated and damaged early on there is no way to be checked other than by the dealer because of it being a sealed unit. With Lifetime fluid driving with compromised fluid is not a good thing.
I get the joy of 500 miles of my trailer break in starting this spring.
I will be very careful not to over heat those gears.
Just a Thought.
