Re: Getting impatient.......

The day I contacted Chrysler via email and asked for an explanation on shipping and timeframes is incidentally the day mine also got on a train. Didn't make it to Kansas City by Midnight as he claimed it would but at least it got moving. Last update had Train Arrival in Bellevue, OH which is not far from Toledo. A LONG way to go.

Re: Getting impatient.......

Mine finally got to Alice Springs yesterday lunch, and still has not traveled 3km to the dealer, when I had rung them at 1040 today. They said they will contact me as soon as it came in to confirm it was delivered and they will get it ready. No phone call since. Its a load of bullshit! Then it will depend on how many km's the vehicle has and any damage with all this loading on and off boats, trains and trucks if we even accept it any more.

What is peoples idea of how many km's a new car should have on it before its not a "new" car anymore? I personally have not seen one over 18km yet and we buy a new car every 2 years.

Cheers
Brenden

My new factory ordered C-TH had 12 miles on it. To get to Alice Springs there are likely more loadings, unloadings and temporary storage, and thus a few more kms could be expected on your Jeep.

YKmsMV.

My (when new) 2002 Jeep Liberty had almost 800 miles on it, in the dealer lot. We agreed on a negotiated price after an appropriate amount of back & forth, checking & calculating, to-ing & fro-ing, and the sales manager finally approving. Then at document signing, I requested (and finally got) another US$.50/mile discount for the high mileage new vehicle. It was fun to express surprise when the paperwork for signature showed the mileage that the dealer had neglected to clearly disclose up front before entering into price negotiations. What was the sales guy thinking - Will the buyer notice the ODO reading or back out at final paperwork signing!?!?! Well, he made a mistake if he actually thought about it and decided not to disclose. Thanks for stimulating this fun memory!!!!

Re: Getting impatient.......

I was watching an interview with Warren Buffet. Along with other things he owns railroads. He said that the bad weather in general, and the additional oil and gas being shipped has slowed down shipping of other commodities.

I guess in the middle of a nasty cold spell natural gas and heating oil might be given a priority. They didn't get into, or I missed, how long shipping takes to get back to normal once the weather breaks.

Re: Getting impatient.......

But that shouldn't impact rail traffic *out* of the cold weather areas, like Detroit to Houston.

Re: Getting impatient.......

Gunny,
I see that you are now staged for shipment. Maybe they will get you loaded and going soon. Maybe yours can push CFarer's ride onto the railcar for them.

Re: Getting impatient.......

hahaha. Note that I was "Staged for Shipment" once before, as was CFarer. I haven't a lot of confidence in the significance. As Milous once said (earlier), "Stage for Shipment" can mean shipment to another yard.

CFarer's ETA date hasn't changed. Mine changed from 3/26 to 4/2. That's the *BEST* case!

Sooooo, I don't think any of the notifications have "predictability" until it's on a rail car, and even then....

Bummer, isn't it?

Re: Getting impatient.......

yeah it is a bummer. I did not notice that it already had been staged once before and I did not notice that your delivery date had been pushed back again. After that I had to go back and check mine.

I am glad my expected delivery date has not changed again but I would not be surprised if it changes tonight or tomorrow.

Mine seems to be a day after yours even though it is at a different plant.

Hope your sticks to the schedule. The Cherokees seem to be a bit tighter on shipment.....

Yeah, my ETA has not changed, because mine was not updated. Friday delivery, yeah OK. Gunny, when yours pushes mine along will you stop in Chicago and let it off before continuing on? Maybe I will get mine 4/1 on Fools day.

Re: Getting impatient.......

Yeah, I figure there is no way yours will make it Friday, since, like me, you're not even on a rail car yet... I do foresee a change of your ETA date in your future.

Salem, IL (where is that?) is where mine is supposed to be handed off from Norfolk Southern to Union Pacific. That is the Interchange spot. Then it heads south. Of course first, there's that pesky matter of actually getting on the train......

Gunny,
How do you know which train it will be on and where the interchange will be and such?
