Re: Getting impatient.......

The makeup of those trains is pretty impressive. They're still loading product from all the plants in Detroit, right, Willx?

I found a youtube video of NS 171 (which is apparently *THE* prime train heading Southwest out of Detroit) passing an intersection - counted 56 of the AutoCar carriers. At appx 14 vehicles on each Autocar, that's more than 750 cars from all the manufacturers in the Detroit area. The sequencing of that to build the train must be fascinating!

Idsoles1066, you should switch to the UP tracking system now. Do you have the railcar #?

800-877-5123, then 'trace', and follow the prompts.

It's terrific!

CFarer, I can't imagine what the holdup is on yours. We know you have a short run once it starts moving, but unless my dealer delays picking up the vehicle, I think I'm going to make it first this time....
Gunny, Thanks
I got the railcar number from Milous and was able to call and get status update on railcar.

Re: Getting impatient.......

Willx, do you expect that to improve now that winter is past? Demand for oil railcars subsides, making way for intermodal and autocar traffic?

How many days are they behind? 3 - 4? or 5 - 10?

Maybe... ?? The demand for the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Durango have all exceeded projections (good thing). I think that things will be a little more normalized soon so hopefully it gets a little more prompt SOON!

Interesting how little 'cushion' there is in the rail system....

Re: Getting impatient.......

I have access to MOTS and help Milous when things get hairy, I just wanted to point out that this is pretty normal. If you are still worried, PM me your last 8 and I will double check the location.[/QUOTE]

Willx,

Mine seems to have gone on a different (non-normal) route. I will PM last 8. Any information would be appreciated.
Detroit to Chicago should not be an unusual route, as absolutely no trains actually run through Chicago.

Thanks.

Re: Getting impatient.......

Not that I really know, but I would bet that most of the scheduling is done by computer with a whole bunch of variables entered. Vehicle transportation I would bet does not have the highest priority. There a certain trains from southern CA that have some of the highest priorities, the fruit and veggy trains. Those run 70mph and do not stop except to refuel. Food, and anything for the power plants get HIGH priorities. Then there is the weather, which we have had "great" winter weather in the midwest.

Re: Getting impatient.......

Yes, I think it will make Westfield today. However, there is still the actual pickup by the dealer - that could take 4 - 5 days yet. While it looks probable, it's not over yet.....

I would bet on yours. Had the dealer look into mine, no further update so far. I am going to push for some sort on "compensation".
