Re: Got an FYI surprise

In Australia that's been the standard since we go the new Cherokee, all Trailhawks come with the decal, and all the other models didn't have it, and as far as I am aware it wasn't even an option on them. I'm just glad the black on the bonnet on the Deep Cherry Red grew on me.

Anyway, we did NOT want the decal on the hood. Did not particularly like it on any color, but definitely not on the Black Crystal Pearl Coat.

As of January 1, 2015, you cannot order a TH without that junk on the hood. It is still shown as an "Option", on web Build and Price, also in the 2015 brochure, also shows as an option on the window sticker, but now it is required. We sat at the order desk and told them to delete it, but your dealer cannot do that anymore. We also contacted the area rep and she called her boss, but to no avail....

Has anyone tried to have it removed after delivery?? I'm worried what trying to remove it will do to fresh paint.
On the black color its not really that noticeable and after time it grows on you. Now on my deep cherry it really stands out and to be honest i kinda like it now. If you want to take it off make dam sure you let the dealer do it this way if it messes up the paint they will have to fix it.

Re: Got an FYI surprise

That's kinda BS that they change mid stream what is and is not an option. I guess the added fascia, tow hooks and taller look wasn't enough to distinguish the TH from other models.

Fairly common really. Did it with the Early WK2 SRTs as well... The higher end sound system was an option overseas and originally was for U.S. but they changed it.

Though at least halfway through 2012 it still showed as an "option" on the Jeep Website.

2014 and early 2015 SRT models could get 3 different wheel options, later 2015 only had 2 options even thought he website showed all 3 for months.

Oh and its definitely not $.75 worth of plastic. Not only is top quality vinyl a lot more than that even bought in bulk / wholesale but in the past Chrysler would farm out decals like this to a contractor who of course are marking it up to make a profit as well... Still a tremendous mark-up / money maker, but probably nowhere near as much as most would think.

Lol @ "without that junk on the hood".
I wouldn't want it either. If they can credit you the cost and remove it before you purchase so you can inspect id go for it.

Re: Got an FYI surprise

A friend of mine here in Canada just visited a dealer about a new Trailhawk and was told the same thing. Mind you, if it was me shopping right now, I would definitely want the decal, but it does seem like a strange change to make an option mandatory. Perhaps it has more to do with the production process?

"Junk on the hood"

Didn't want it, didn't pay for it and doesn't bother me

Don't want it, being forced to pay extra for it and its removal, and that does bother me

Re: Got an FYI surprise

Decals just don't hold up here in high desert and just makes under the hood even hotter.

Same thing here in Sacramento. Decals on Motorhomes are cracking and peeling within 5 years unless parked inside at all times.

Re: Got an FYI surprise

There was a brand new Wrangler from our dealer on display in front of Cosco with a Texas star decal on the hood that was flaking off due to direct sunlight and pressure washer.

I too ordered the black wheels but with Cherry Red. I think I could have picked a more compatible black so it would better match the moldings and accent colors. but then they didn't ask me.
