Thats why the dealer gave me a 2015 at invoice and i am very pleased with the 2015. The 2014 was great until the flash.

Lol..no offense but there is no fix ...me and 100s of others took a huge loss on this..mine also was perfect until the dealer did the software update...
If there was a fix..I would still be driving it..took a huge loss as the dealer didn't want it either. There are members on the other forum that maybe you can help? Some are on there 2nd buy back and still have issues with the new one!...one guy is on his 3rd...
I went to the wk2 as It was a safety concern that the jeep would lunge forward without notice..I almost ran down a lady and her baby stroller...traded it the same day because I did not want to chance getting hurt or hurting anyone else else due to FCA blunder of a transmission

How many miles did you have on it? I think we were at 16k for the 1st flash...35k now. I drove it a bit today, for the most part it was OK, but 2 times in traffic it felt like it was stuck in 4th gear from a standstill, then neutral-aaaaand-BANG!-there's 1st gear.

Looks like that 2014 KL had transmission problems; not so much for the 2015, and as per the above Dot Point, here's hoping no problems for the 2016 KL.

Re: Has the 9 Speed Transmission Issue(s) Been Resolved.....?

My 2014 KL still has issues. Again - it all depends on how you drive. If you drive primarily highway, you won't see the issues. The issues are low speed shifting and downshifting. The trans searches and gets confused on what gear to go to.

Additionally it stays in 3rd until you come to a complete stop - never seeing 2nd...huh? Bizarre and UNSAFE!!

I won't buy a Jeep again - unless they fix this mess.

These 3rd gear issues are dangerous. Why? Cause you slow down to 10 MPH (or whatever speed that the thing stays in 3rd) and then if you have to speed up - you have to floor the gas pedal and the KL creeps. All torque because its in 3rd - not downshifting to 2nd. Dangerous.

Additionally, when I come to my driveway, I slow down to go over the curb. Then I speed up to get up the driveway (very very small incline) and the trans kicks - because it has no clue on what gear to get into. It's confused.

Totally not acceptable for a $40K vehicle.

But I do see a new TSB. http://www.wk2jeeps.com/Misc/Cheroke..._21_012_16.pdf

Looks like Jeep is finally figuring out there are indeed issues!! So YES - there are still issues.

I totally agree with you that there are still issues with the transmission of the MY14 KL Cherokee. However the OP was specifically asking about the new MY16 KL.

In my particular circumstance, I have a MY15 KL and for the past 15 months have done 95% Stop & Go driving in and around the City of Melbourne. To date, and after 16,000km I have experienced zero transmission issues.

I feel for you guitar54, and others, that has had to go through that mess.

Re: Has the 9 Speed Transmission Issue(s) Been Resolved.....?

My 2014 TH had transmission problems, post the first TSB update in 2014. I changed to a different dealer/service department...and then fixed it by reflashing 9 modules. Check out this thread. It's been great ever since the 9 module update.

From MY 2014, these transmissions seemed (IMHO) to have a wide variety of parts, software and bad TSB updates due to dealers not understanding what they were doing. From what I'm reading, things have improved over the subsequent model years, but the TSBs still rely on dealers doing it properly.
