In fact the trailer break in routine is tougher than the initial break in procedures for the Cherokee its self.

Ordered a new 2016 Trailhawk but don't have it yet. Are the trailer break in procedures well spelled out in owners manual?

Yes, the procedures are detailed in the owners manual.
Now with that said when you get your Hawk the manual will be the abbreviated one. There is a DVD that is included that has the full version. You can also call customer care and have the full print version mailed to you free of charge.
Now all of this is based on my 2014 purchase.
I also believe that there is an online manual that you can read before your Hawk arrives. That was what I did. Its in Jeep.com in the customer/owners section. You can also register yourself as the owner of the Hawk in the owners section.

Basically no towing for the first 1,000 miles if I remember correctly.
Then for the 1st 500 miles of actual towing do not exceed 50 mph. No full throttle accelerations etc................
Good luck and enjoy that Trail Hawk!

How's the new transmission going?
Hopefully FCA gave you a "new" transmission that has the new hardware updates and software.
Let us know.

I too am curious about the new trans - also how did you get them to give you a new one??? Mine is horrible and I'm now ready to make way more noise about it and need to learn about the process for doing so. Any help and feedback is appreciated!

Re: Has the 9 Speed Transmission Issue(s) Been Resolved.....?

Bought our 2014 KL Latitude 3.2 FWD in Sept 2014 for my wife. It's a great vehicle if the 9 speed would be more reliable. It is currently at the dealer having the transmission replaced for the second time in 16,000 miles so far the dealer has had it for over 3 weeks. FCA is absolutely useless and this is from someone who has bought Chrysler since 1966. I believe much of the problem is the dealer but FCA does nothing but provide lip service and make empty promises.

They can rebuild it 20 times, it's not going to fix the crappy software.
show this to your dealer...

Re: Has the 9 Speed Transmission Issue(s) Been Resolved.....?

The article contributor, Jim Gorzelany says: "What’s more, of the 10 injuries related to the gearbox that have been registered with the agency, three involved drivers who were run over as they got out of their cars after thinking they had shifted their cars into park. This is the same issue at the root of a separate recall of 811,000 FCA vehicles involving a ZF-supplied eight-speed transmission and is the subject of an investigation into the recent death of “Star Trek” actor Anton Yelchin."

I thought all models of the Jeep Cherokee had Safehold that cannot be turned off. From the owner's manual:

Safehold
Safehold is a safety feature of the Electric Park Brake System that will engage the park brake automatically if the vehicle is left unsecured while the ignition switch is in RUN. For automatic transmissions, the park brake will automatically engage if all of the following conditions are met:
• The vehicle is at a standstill.
• There is no attempt to depress the brake pedal or accelerator pedal.
• The seat belt is unbuckled.
• The driver door is open.
