have you had all software updates applied to your jeep? I know my 14 used to let me lock the doors with the fob in it (ask me how i know lol) but after an update it now wont lock if the fob is inside.

Jeep was at the dealership last month and was completely up to date at that time. I am still very perplexed about the entire situation and no one has a viable answer. Guess going forward fob always stays in my pocket!

Perhaps the Remote Start constantly checks to assure the doors are locked and relocks automatically if it finds doors or tailgate unlocked at any time while Remote Start is active. FYI, the Jeep will lock from the exterior lock buttons with a fob inside upon 3 tries...with a warning beep. For your next river trip, consider taking your mechanical key with you and lock your Fob inside...to keep it dry.
