Interesting insurance quote

Traded in a 2012 Kia Soul worth, I suppose, $12500 retail ? Traded it on a 2015 Cherokee Limited, MSRP $41k (no I didn't pay that) and my insurance (identical coverages) went DOWN $4 per month. I suppose it is all the safety bells and whistles the Jeep has ?

Yup. My 14 SRT is the cheapest vehicle I've ever insured in my life lol.

Re: Interesting insurance quote

Same thing happened to me when I traded in my 2007 Mazda 3 for my 2015 Trailhawk. Mine went down like 7 dollars a month. Would have thought it would go up due to alot more expensive to fix/replace.

It's because your Mazda 3 is considered a sports car, no matter the year and our Jeeps are considered station wagons. The positives of owning a grocery getter in the eyes of insurance companies lol

Same here. In Michigan it's classified as a station wagon. I'm fine with that. I cringed when they asked me for the horse power for the vehicle. There was a slight pause on the other line, then she said "did you say 4...75". "Yes that's correct"

I'm just a little worried about what my rates will do when my kids turn 16.

Re: Interesting insurance quote

It should be interesting as I just traded in my 2011 WK2 Limited for a new 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk. Less power equipment and no sunroof but a stable sturdy ride. I miss the Grand Cherokee already but with my youngest driving hauling kids or volleyball equipment isn't a priority. Less stuff to breakdown in the long run and the Trailhawk has a very nice package. Shark face and all.

Re: Interesting insurance quote

You bet! All the air bags, the full Tech group, and all the other standard safety features hold the insurance cost down.
From a '04 Grand SE to a '14 Cherokee Limited mine went up $80 yr but a lot more vehicle to insure. The hit was a lot less % wise than in the past when adding a new vehicle. I was suprised.

Re: Interesting insurance quote

Mine went up!! I went from 2011 GMC Terrain Fwd to Trailhawk, basically same vehicle type of vehicle and, it went up $15 a month and I haven't had any infractions on my license in over 5 years. But, I'll be getting a new carrier on Feb when my current policy runs out and bundle with my homeowners.

Shopping around never hurts. In fact it sends a message to your carrier.
Bundling does help! It also gives you more leverage if you want to change companies because your rates keep going up.
I bundle all my insurance with one company and just track total cost as to what others want for the same coverage.
Then if issues develop have a talk with your agent. I am sure the agent does not want to lose your business. It does work. Other companies would love your business, especially if violation free.
