Though this is my first post here, I am not new to the site or the KL. For those of you that know me from JCC or JeepForum, HI!! For those who do not, Hello. It is nice to be here.
I bought my Cherokee Jan 2 2014. It is a Dec 2013 build and for the most part has been rock-solid.
I joined this and a few other groups and always found myself returning to the one group predominantly (since it was bookmarked -- yeah, I know lazy). Anyways, figured nearly 2 years have passed I might as well make an introduction., as I have lurked quite a bit.

I stumbled on this Jeep by pure accident. I wanted a Hemi RT Challenger for a while and finally decided I was going to pull the trigger. So, I started my shopping in 2013. I was at the dealer ever other day checking every new one that came in to test the different features, see the colors in different lighting. I was an obsessed fool. After finally deciding what I wanted, I could not find one on any lot within a 200 mile internet search. I had made up my mind I was going to place an order (or at least try to -- wasn't sure if they were taking orders this late/early).
Anyways we drove to the dealer on a super snowy January 2nd 2014 and my salesman was not in. I had drug him along for almost a year and he was not in. But Marc was. Ok, Mark ... just to pass some time since I came here and was not looking forward to the snowy trip home just yet, show me some Jeeps that I can play with............ first up was the Patriot Oscar Mike Freedom .. it was ok, but not all that. Next up was the Wrangler Sahara in Anvil (wife did not like the color, can you believe that?), Unlimited Sahara in Granite. I was impressed with this one; it was almost a done deal. Then as we pulled back in the lot, I saw the Cherokee sitting by itself tucked against the building. What's with that one? Oh, just got it in a couple hours ago. OK, get the keys. Within the first two blocks, I was sold. The Challenger thoughts were old memories now. The ride was smooth. I couldn't break it loose on turns in the snow and it was just fun. I signed the papers and took it home.
Mine was the last deal of the day and it was dark when I jumped in and headed home. I was surprised when I woke the next day and saw that I had cloth seats and no tow package ... everything I drove and walked around had leather and hitches. How did I miss this? I know it was that smooth intoxicating ride. OK, not a big deal, I prefer cloth anyways, but the hitch is kind of a deal. I realized it didn't have any recovery hooks. hmm, I thought all jeeps had them (shows what I knew about the line-up , right?) No biggie, I'll add them. Wait, no place to add them without changing the fascias or cutting holes? Bummer. But, I can get past it...or can I?
Since purchase, I have added orange trim to the doors (an easy mod found at 2014 Jeep Cherokee Forums
I had custom hood emblem made and installed with a matching orange stripe and orange Cherokee lettering at the top. The emblems/grill have been traded out for the TH versions in Anthracite Grey and I have replaced the OEM rubber floor mats with the Weathertechs.
My Jeep has traveled all over the Midwest and East Coast both on and off road.
Future changes .. Would like different wheels and it is almost time for new tires and I will be getting some good biting ATs to replace the LE2s that handled nearly everything I threw at them but are still really street tires.
I have the TH tow hooks and mounts taht will one day be fully installed installed, I ran into some issues thanks to FCAs poor planning that I will share in another post.
