Re: Leaking Transmission

I am not sure about the dealer.

If Jeep wanted to replace the tranny on their dime then why would the dealer go for a cheap skate shade tree mechanic trick? This may seem expensive to you and I but to Jeep it is nothing... literally. They want to sell 250k plus Cherokees and they cannot build GCs and Wranglers fast enough.

Re: Leaking Transmission

What color is the fluid? My new 2014 is dipping a yellowish oily liquid. Mine is located under the center of the motor.

Re: Leaking Transmission

It was transmission fluid, some of it was dripping on to the exhaust. I suspect they tried to patch it up for me because there are no parts available for repairs. They are putting all the parts they can get into new builds. They are not interested in you once you buy the vehicle. I traded it in for the Rubicon because I know that that they can be repaired.
The Cherokee is sweet but is not ready for prime time yet.
It was a very expensive experience for me, just be careful and benefit from my loss.

Re: Leaking Transmission

Just found this website and thread, and just joined as I'm having the same exact issue. Chrysler told my dealer to replace the trans entirely.

Re: Leaking Transmission

My dealer could not get a transmission, and Chrysler would not give them a time when they would. It was a great vehicle, but I did not want the hassle. Hope you have better luck.
