Leather seats advice for 2016 Trailhawk KL

This is my first real post here. Thanks in advance for the advice and the site!

I have been researching for a while, and I am almost ready to find and buy a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk. I think I need to take delivery before the $2,000 dealer incentive expires on January 4th, and I don't want to wait any longer.

I will ask for some general advice separately, but this last issue just popped up about the "leather interior group" for $1,495 MSRP.

Specifically, my wife wants leather seats. I was just going to add them, but I just saw that the group describes the seats as "leather TRIMMED bucket seats." I sat in one for a test drive before, but I thought it was ALL leather. And now it looks like the the middle of the seat vinyl, and will I sweat if I sit in it for a longer period?

The standard seats are described as "cloth/leather/vinyl bucket seats." So it sounds like both are leather trimmed, only the more expensive optional seats replaced the cloth with vinyl!!!

So, are the optional "leather trimmed seats" ok, or will I sweat on the vinyl portion? Would the cheaper standard seats actually be better because of the cloth portion?

I appreciate your help.

Vented seats cure all sweat issues... And I'm in Arizona. Best option ever.

There is one that has all I want, except I rejected it for vented seats. Reason was I didn't think I would care for them, plus that would eliminate the secret storage in the passenger seat which I really want. Maybe I am not being practical. So you really like your vented seats???

I love them. I won't get another car without them.. I'd say it also depends on the climate you live in and how much value you think they'd provide.

I have the vented seats on my Cherokee Limited and love them. First time I bought a vehicle with heated steering wheel, heated seats, and vented seats now I don't know how I ever did without all of them. I have severe sinus/allergies and sometimes during certain times of the year I need to close the Cherokee up to prevent all the junk in the air from coming into my Jeep. That is when the vented seats are really nice. There are so many other storage places in the Cherokee not having storage in the passenger seat will never be missed.

Leather group is what gets you the heated seats and wheel from what I remember. I wouldn't want the cloth.

Just have the dealer get whatever optioned car you want in, they had to go get mine in Ohio and bring it to Omaha, no big deal. We wanted a 15 because of the color.

Thanks. I think we will just go with the leather.

I went to a couple of dealers today. I don't know why the optional is called "leather trim" because it is all the same cover. It is not different on the edges. Maybe it means it is some kind of laminate, and the leather is only on the top? Anyway, it looks good, like I remembered. I just got a little spooked by the label.

The non leather seats have cloth inserts, thus they are leather trimmed only..

Its called leather interior group. to get rid of the inserts. I see on my sticker now that alone was the 1495 add on.

Re: Leather seats advice for 2016 Trailhawk KL

I just bought a Traihawk and it has the cold weather package with heated seats, heated steering wheel, engine plug in and leather trim seats. Its all leather but a much right under your knees that is a vented fabric that feels a bit softer than nylon corder, but it gives you some nice breathing room so the pants don't bunch up. Traded away a WK@ Limited with a luxury pace and I think I like this better as far as the seats, though firm lumbar thats not adjustable, but moves fine. The leather is stitched with the thread of the exterior paint and mine is a burnt orange, but called mango tango, and i really like the rally looking black matte leather that is nicely padded and the dark grey corder type mesh is soft and fits nicely.

While giving up all the power everything, and losing some length, the trail hawk has nice seats, even in back but that extra 6" is more moving forward. It is a nice car to drive in the snow as I love in a snow belt just a few miles South of Lake Ontario. Literally like velcro on the roads.

This break in period on the engine and transmission is interesting. I hate the auto engine stop but that's an easy fix. My iPhone 6Plus works nicely though I use a cord and it keep charged. I may want to add HID as you get used to them and even the best halogen seem to pale, though I love the LED lighting. Just first impressions.

Still I miss the WK@ limited as I had purchased some 2015 rims with new rubber for so little. Just a completely different kind of car. Maybe if you are going for the Limited I might pick the leather package as you do need that for vented seats, but the heated stuff can be had with the Winter package which is reasonable and the interior with accent lighting is just great.
