Loss of coolant, CEL 2.4 Persistent Problem - 2015 Cherokee

At around 15,000 miles the car threw a CEL - "thermostat rationality". The dealer has seen the car more than 6 times since, replaced a leaking radiator outlet hose - 6810213AG; and thermostat/housing.

One time the dashboard lit up all red with an alleged hot engine condition, a mile from the dealer. After a 15 minute cool down, the car made the trip to the dealer without incident.

Even after all this work, there is an ongoing major loss of coolant. No more CEL however.

No coolant on the ground under the car. No apparent odor to the exhaust.

Strong coolant odor near top of radiator on driver side all of the time.

Dealer says they can't find a cause of the coolant leak problem. Car out of service for more than 10 days total.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Check the Head Gasket. Also check to see if your oil is milky in color.

Latest, car is running at up to 233 degrees per the dashboard monitor. Above 230 degrees, steam vents out the overflow tank cap. The dealer told me this is normal and that jeeps run at 230 degrees "all the time". Coolant tank is going dry on a regular schedule.

In my opinion it is not normal to run that high unless temporarily under load.
I have never had that issue with any car I have owned over the years including the last 4 Jeeps.
This is especially true if you are venting. Venting simply means the system is under extreme duress and running too hot. So unless the vent itself is defective, which I highly doubt, the venting is trying to tell you something. Your engine will not be long for this world if this situation continues.

Try another dealer and/or call FCA customer service line and get them involved.
Good luck

Sounds like the didn't install the new thermostat correctly, didn't bleed the air out of the system, or the thermostat is bad. Take it somewhere else. Your current dealer is incompetent.

Back in the dealer again!

This time for an observable leak of coolant from area where the metal coolant lines are attached to rubber tubes under the manifold. These lines are called oil cooler lines, but carry coolant, not oil. The part number is 05047388AD. These are found on Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram vehicles, 2.0 and 2.4l.

Left a pool of coolant under the car.

Thank goodness I invested $3 in a Harbor Freight Tool lighted inspection mirror.

The lines are attached with a weird looking hose clamp. The clamp has failed or has an engineering flaw which allows for a leak under high heat and pressure.
