I have no issues with my 64GB SD XC card.
It displays 3965 songs

I use an old 160GB 6th generation iPod from around 2007. It has about 12500 tracks and a bunch of books. That pre-dates the Touch. The system in the 2014 Grand Cherokee had zero problems with that. Is the uConnect software up to date?

It isn't a perfect interface, it takes too long to browse by artist for example, and it sometimes loses its position in audio books if you don't use the iPod for a few days. But it isn't terrible, significantly better than the Ford and GM systems.

Just tried a 40GB iPod from 2004 - it would not even recognize the device.

Re: Music people: uConnect confusion- help plz

Try setting your iPod to act as a hard drive. I use Winamp (because I hate the useless iTunes interface and don't ever buy MP3s because I can get the disk for the price of the tracks then I don't lose everything if their system forgets me) and I set my iPod to function as a hard drive. It's a standard setting.

Is your iPod software up to date?

I am currently between the GC Limited and the diesel, so I can't try it right now.

This link is at support dot apple dot com, or search for it yourself, I searched for "using ipod as a hard disk". You shouldn't just trust links you find on web sites, even when I post them

Using your iPod as a storage drive

I am assuming we can download songs to the stereo's hard drive like I could on my 2011 Grand Cherokee?

Re: Music people: uConnect confusion- help plz

I never even thought of trying, I stuck a 64GB SD card in the slot but then plugged my iPod in too. I also used the bluetooth interface to play TuneIn Radio (BBC Radio 4 is awesome). But that's all I did.

There is no hard rive in the MY14 CGs, so no.
USB, SD or Bluetooth.

I thought using a USB drive and leaving it connected would draw some current unlike a SD card.

There are a few that use slim 500GB HDD via USB with no issues.
That USB port will not draw current when the vehicle is off.

A decent 128GB thumb drive is $50 on Amazon. For this use the internal drives and iPods aren't keeping up with the times.
