Music people: uConnect confusion- help plz

Hi all!
So with an iPhone connected via USB, how do you indicate to uConnect which music platform , app, etc on your phone you want to be playing? As we all know, your smartphone can have music directly on the device itself ( ie iTunes) or can have music stored or streamed via services like Spotify.

When I plug the phone into USB, it immediately plays the first song stored on iTunes ( or put another way, in my main library), even if the Spotify app is open . If I want to play via Spotify, I have to pause the library song, then play the Spotify song I want. Later, if I try to interact with the Spotify tracks, it seems to want to go back and play the library track. It's like you have to trick it to play songs from apps.

Any advice?

That is because when an iPhone is connected to a media server such as Uconnect it is automatically put into iPod mode.
This is Apples setting, not Uconnect.
I have the same issue using the Podcast app, I make sure it is playing the Podcast first before plugging in.

Re: Music people: uConnect confusion- help plz

I connected my 4.5 year old iPod Touch via the USB. Got a message that I needed the the iPod App from Chrysler. For that i'd have to upgrade the iPod system. Appeared it was too old for the current system.

I have 6400 tunes on the iPod. To my surprise it did work without the App and I could browse. It was on the slow side though.

I decided to test the USB thumb drive - gee, it worked great with 20 items. Decided I'd rather use an SDHC card so dumped a couple hundred on to a 32GB (10) card and tried it. Wonderful. Just loaded 3000 and it appeared not to work. I put the card in before I in the slot and it topped out at 285 songs. I then put the ignition to off, removed the card, back in to acc position and inserted the card. Voila. All 3000 turn up.

Have to go out shortly. Later today I'll finish the loading on to the card and report back to the group. I've already told my wife I"m so impressed that I've got to get a new car. Oh, I could browse by artist or song. Will try more later.

Re: Music people: uConnect confusion- help plz

xmike, it didn't work. It would only show 2950 songs and about half of the artists and albums.

I connected the iPod again and it reported 6470 tunes, 1151 artists and 768 albums. And it worked and I could search for songs, artists, albums, etc. (it also flashed text telling me to get the App for the unit - which I did not do.). BUT, it was darn slow. The iPod is a 32GB version and the SD card I used was also 32GB.

If I get a chance tomorrow, I'm going to transfer everything from the SD card to a USB thumb drive and see what that produces. It worked when I tested it but the number of songs was small. I also took the format used on the iPod (ACC) and now I'm wondering if everything should be converted to MP3?

The 2950 won't bother my wife since she will simply say I should take all of my stuff off. I don't like that solution.

I'm going to try my son's iPod Nano (current model - 16 GB) and see what happens.

I'll let you know if the USB drive works any better.

I have to say that the way it works and the details provide along with the great screens is impressive. Certainly grounds for me getting a new vehicle.

How many items did you have? Were the stats (number of tunes, artists, albums) correct?

Your iPod is a newer generation I suspect and that makes a difference. When I connected the iPads (both 64GB) they were faster but they contain tons of photos but only 400 songs. I'd rather not connect them when travelling other than to charge. We love being connected to AT&T when driving on I-75 from Detroit to Florida.

At this point I'm hoping the USB drive works adequately and the 6400 tunes will show. If not I'm just going to slim down the library to "her" favourites and put them on a 16GB card or drive.

Have 302 artists and 15000 tracks (100gb of data) and works lightening fast. Does read titles with symbols but voice commands may not work.

Just tried my son's Nano and it too was lightening fast. Really nice. Had 2453 songs.

6400 songs on USB drive worked fine - all visible. But, not very fast initially and the song list can take a while.

I'm wondering what I did wrong with the SD card? I may try to load it again and see if the same thing happens. First time I simply pulled the songs from iTunes. This time I took the folders from the iTunes library and that resulted in a much better structure.
