Navigation upgrade

Wondering if it will be worth the $$ to upgrade radio system on my new 2015 Cherokee for the navigation. Really do not like GPS via the cell phone and it won't play on radio for turn by turn directions. Also want to see the map along with hear the turn to turn but do not really want to attach my phone to the front windshield. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks MaS67 from MD

If you are on good terms with your local dealers, ask them what it could cost to upgrade or sell you what it would take to do so. Armed with that, it could make deciding against a smartphone or built in navigation easier...

Re: Navigation upgrade

I waffled with the idea of getting the in dash nav. I love it. Yes, there is sometimes a little lag when it runs, but I think it's worthwhile to have. Before I was using my phone, and having the turning directions on the big screen and EVIC help tremendously.

Re: Navigation upgrade

Have my phone paired via bluetooth but while listening to the radio the turn by turn does not come through. Think that the tax refund coming early spring will be used for Nav upgrade to the radio system! One question. Do you have to pay for Nav upgrades??? yearly??? or once you pay for the system it is automatic upgrades??? Thanks for the help!

Re: Navigation upgrade

You will have to pay for navigation map upgrades when available.

Re: Navigation upgrade

Map up grade $115 - $130 from what I have seen, no new map yet for the 2014/2015. After your Uconnect Sirius/travel link subscription expires, $15 a month.

Re: Navigation upgrade

So let me get this right - $500 to upgrade my radio system with Nav - $130ish a year to upgrade the maps (because I guess that they upgrade on a yearly basis) - and $15 a month after the 6 month free uconnect - which is $180 - so that is about $300 a year for a nav system on the radio screen system - WOW! not sure that it is worth all that $$ - maybe I'll just deal with my phone and go from there - for free -
