New 9-SP Tranny Update?

Found this new nugget of 9-sp Tranny info for the KL:

News: 9-speed Cherokee update

Looks like a new update incoming, if accurate. Didn't look like it was posted yet, but my apologies if it had.

Re: New 9-SP Tranny Update?

Thanks for the info Milous.

I see TSBs dated May 15th... as you saw ;-) my Cherokee was buitl May 13th and is waiting to be shipped. Question is, are the TSB's already applied? how would one find out when talking to the dealer?

thx

I believe that anything built before May 5th should have this update (this was posted earlier).

My service manager has suggested to me that my 2014 Cherokee Limited II 3.2L is running and shifting so well that I leave well enough alone and not have the update done at this time. He said I can always have it done later if things change but he is afraid to mess with things being so good right now. I tend to agree with him as other than a minor problem with someone on the assembly line applying too much dope to my front brake pads my November 2013 build has been perfect so far. The only other thing the service manger had done to my Jeep, more as precautionary than anything else, was to replace the strut mounts rather than lub them per the TSB.

Thanks everyone for getting back to my question and for adding info.

I don't own the Jeep yet, Can you elaborate how to get the number?

Re: New 9-SP Tranny Update?

The Service Department will have to use their scan tool to read the TCM software part number.

You know mine said the same thing the other day about the trans TSB's..
Mine has not had the updates 12/16 and 5/15 TSBs. Build date 12/11.
But it is shifting so smooth I can not even feel the shifts most of the time.
200 miles of AL and all was well after that. It just keeps getting better.
His scan for updates showed none available.
He does not want to apply updates that are not on his scan.
He is concerned about creating problems where they do not exist at present. That was always my concern, but again I do not need a break down.
I kind of agree only in that I do not want to mess up a good thing.
So we will see.
Thanks for the feedback on you dealer.
