New Windshield for 2015 Cherokee

My wife's 2015 Cherokee needs a new windshield. I was told by one glass company that the car would need to be "re-calibrated" after the windshield was installed since the car has the lane departure warning feature.

Has anyone else hear of this? It seems odd to me since the windshield has no sensors in it that I know of, only some metal elements for defrosting.

The Cherokee is a 2015 Limited with all of the available options. Has anyone had to replace a windshield on a similarly equipped Cherokee? If so, what was the cost?

Thanks

Re: New Windshield for 2015 Cherokee

I just had Safelite replace my 2016 windshield on the TH with a 2015 IEM glass. There are over 25 OEM windshields. I would try to get original glass and hope it's fine right. I've been happy. Luckily my insurer was great about the OEM glass and whomever I wanted to do the installation. Most important is that it's fine right, and the first during the first trip.

Best of luck. It's strange to even contemplate. Thank God we don't own Teslas.

The Forward Facing Camera Module (FFC) is a stand-alone monocular camera mounted to the inside interior of the front windshield, within the Combined Rear View Mirror Module (CRVMM) housing, that captures and processes video images. The camera will perform the following functions on this model:

- Automatic High Beam Control
- Object detection for supporting data fusion
- Lane Departure Warning
- Forward Collision Warning Plus

FORWARD FACING CAMERA - CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
The Forward Facing Camera (FFC) Calibration need to be performed when the FFC and/or windshield has been replaced. Perform the following steps:
Connect the scan tool and start the vehicle.
Navigate to the "Misc Functions" menu under the FFC and place the camera in "In Plant Mode" with the scan tool.
The screen will now prompt you to drive the vehicle for calibration. The vehicle needs to be driven at speeds of 65 km/h (40 mph) and in the straightest road condition possible. You need a lane with lines (dashed or solid) on both sides of the vehicle. This averages to roughly ten minutes of drive time, terrain permitting.
After the camera learns the calibration, the scan tool FFC view will show calibrated.
Return to the "Misc Functions" menu and exit "In Plant Mode." Service calibration DTCs should be in the stored status at this point.
 Clear those DTCs.
