No diesel Cherokee without Grand Cherokee sales boost, Jeep brand chief says:

"Jeep brand head Mike Manley says sales of diesel-powered Jeep Grand Cherokees in the United States would have to nearly double before the brand would consider offering a domestic diesel-powered version of the smaller Jeep Cherokee."

Re: No diesel Cherokee without Grand Cherokee sales boost.

If Jeep would pull their heads out of their asses, and price the CRD option appropriately, their sales might fall in line with where they want them. At almost $5,000, it's a hard pill to swallow for someone who falls smack-dab in the middle of the middle class, which is who I think the JGCs should be/are marketed towards.

Yeah I think you really hit the nail on the head. How many people are going to pay 5k more when the v6 option gets decent mileage? Some, but not a lot.

Re: No diesel Cherokee without Grand Cherokee sales boost.

My wife has a 2012 Hemi. She doesn't want a diesel. I'm due for a replacement for my car, but the limited is more $$$ than my current ride.

I'm sure if I read the newspaper adds the same deal is here. But as soon as you go to the dealer the price miraculously skyrockets... I had that problem when I was shopping for my ram.

Re: No diesel Cherokee without Grand Cherokee sales boost.

I don't get it. When they introduced the diesel in the new Ram 1500, the news reports said they could not keep up with demand for the diesel (between the GC and Ram). One would think they'd deduce that demand is strong.

Different market for a pickup vs an SUV. And 5000 extra is a lot to stomach on an already expensive vehicle.
