Oil capacity

I do all of my own oil changes and are very faithful to never go over 5000 miles (despite what the display may say for oil quaility). My TH, V-6, has 19,000 miles on the clock and has always run perfectly. My question is every time I have changed the oil the dip stick shows it to be over filled by like 1/4" above the full mark after a few hundred miles. The last change I let the vehicle drain for over one hour! I put exactly 6 quarts and of course a new filter. Within one hour it showed exactly full, a few hundred miles later it is showing above full. Have never needed to add any antifreeze, oil does not smell like gas. This is driving me crazy since I do not want it over full and I end up taking like 1/3 of quart out to bring it down to full. Is it because of the oil in the cooler that does not drain out? Any ideas?

Just my opinion but put in what the manual says if it says 6 quarts then put in 6 quarts no more no less. We have been banging our heads with similar issues on the WK2s, our 5.7s showing under filled by a quart when using the correct amount. Jeep recently issued a TSB for the 5.7 with a new dipstick as the others were wrong and showing a quart under filled. just today they issued another TSB for new dipstick for the 6.4s because they show a quart over filled. Me and others have got the new dipsticks and they are now reading correctly. My guess is the KLs have a similar issue judging by what you are saying. The person that designed the dipsticks for these jeeps are a true dipstick themselves and should be fired. How hard can it be to make a dipstick correctly so the 5.7 has them wrong the 6.4 has the wrong and now the sounds the like the 3.6 on the KLs may have them wrong also.

"like the 3.6 on the KLs may have them wrong also."

While the V6 in the KL was derived from the 3.6L it is a 3.2L.
